Today's culprit was a old style nightlatch. Our customer had pulled shut their door without realising the keys where left inside. Not the ideal situation for a Friday night. Within 15 minutes of us receiving the call we had our customer inside their property.

No locks where harmed in the making of this entry. Our customer was able to use their keys to operate the lock as normal.

Today's lockout was for a charity who specialises in housing the vulnerable, in Belfast. 2 doors required opening and changing of the rim cylinders.

We replaced them with chrome British Standard Yale rim cylinders. Matching with the existing handles.

Our customer contacted us with locked wooden door to their garage. Keys lost. Only one point of entry.

After a very unsuccessful hour of YouTube lockpicking; our customer finally gave us a call. Who knew you couldn't open this Yale cylinder with 2 hair pins😂

We gained access quickly and got the lock changed over quicker than length of the YouTube video.

Another great review from recent work completed on our customers property. Originally we were tasked to fix this old nightlatch. Unfortunately a fix was impossible as the old part had seen better days. Security was of high concern to this lady. So we recommended and installed a British Standard YALE nightlatch.

Our customer also had the need for a key safe. Rather than recommend the usual cheap key safes; we wanted our customer to have the best security at a reasonable cost. Weatherproof and strong!

Both products are compliant with home insurance standards and the key safe has a Police accreditation.

Short story. Happy ending

Customers external door handle spinning. Not opening. Door and mechanism fully engaged and locked.

Calls MCA Locksmiths. Out ASAP at customers convenience.

MCA Locksmiths got door open and identified the problem part. ONLY the part required changed. The rest of the mechanism worked perfectly fine. Saving made on customers end.

Door now works great.

Why didn't you just change the whole mechanism? Could have made more money. NOT how we do things here.

Stay honest. We promise to do the same.

Cost of living crisis is hard on us all. Let's not take advantage of people.

Yesterday we attended a tricky callout. A customer contacted us with an emergency lockout. Not because they lost keys; because their lock failed. At the time the customer needed in urgently and due to a work commitment we couldn't get there within our normal time frame. So what did we do? We got the family into their home via a telephone call! We asked the right questions. Diagnosed the issue and explained how to get in without the need for tools. They got in.

The issue we found will definitely return so we recommended changing the euro cylinder. Appointment scheduled to be within the hour.

When our locksmith got there this was not a simple fix. Our locksmith spent 2 hours investigating the problem. Problem sorted and a new 1* Yale Superior lock fitted.

We spent longer than our allocated time there. Why? Because we won't let any door beat us! Did we over charge our original quote for this job? No. Price remained competitive. Did we charge for the phone consultation? No. A family was in need, so the decent thing was get them into the warmth.

Today we completed maintenance on a door mechanism which had locked itself shut. After getting the door open we investigated the cause by removing the full mechanism from the door. With some cleaning and a little know how we got it working like new. Without the need to change a perfectly working mechanism.

As a back up plan we also took all measurements required to change this mechanism; if our customer has the need too in the future. If the worst happens we will have the exact like for like part to exchange.

Security upgrade!

Coming up to Christmas security of our homes is something that should be on our minds. At this time of year we generally have more expensive goods kept in our homes.

A recent cylinder change we completed not only improves home security, but it has been fitted correctly. The other one had quite a recess after being fitted by another contractor. See for yourself in the photos. The upgrade looks much better🙂
