We are delighted to be taking part in Awake the Garden event taking place tomorrow, Saturday 28 March, in Bangor Castle Walled Garden. We will have a selection of some of our bonsai on show as well as demos. The event runs from 11am to 4pm and is a free family day celebrating the awakening of the garden this spring, with food, entertainment, crafts, and a range of garden‑themed activities. Hope to see you there.

🌸Awake the Garden 🌸

Bangor Castle Walled Garden will come alive from 24-28 March with Awake the Garden Week — a week long celebration of nature, creativity and the rich diversity of our community.

Across five days, the historic Walled Garden will host a vibrant programme ranging from women's storytelling and Tai Chi, to spring floristry competitions, youth film activities, community cinema, and a lively Saturday of hands on workshops, music, crafts and family-friendly nature experiences.

Awake the Garden Week invites everyone to step into spring, discover something new, and celebrate the power of growing together.

Some pics giving an overview of our display at the Rose Fair in Belfast this weekend. Great to see the community engaging and showing great interest in bonsai. Sir Thomas and Lady Dixon Park is worth the visit for the roses alone but the Japanese Garden is an added bonus.

Some of the awarded trees at the weekend. We have a spread of awards and thus show us mostly about encouraging new members to exhibit and experience the buzz of displaying a tree. With 5 new exhibitors at this show alone and a few in their second year of exhibiting supported by a few old hands we had a nice spread of trees for the public.

Why we do it, it’s not just for our members, one of our main club aims is promoting bonsai in N. Ireland and with 12k people through the gate over the weekend we have exposed our art to many new faces.
