🎉 London Marathon Fundraising Total Revealed! 🎉

We are delighted to share that Richard Barr has raised an incredible £4,020 for Derbyshire Carers Association through his London Marathon challenge! 🏅💙

After completing the 26.2-mile course in an impressive 4 hours, 30 minutes and 46 seconds, Rich's dedication, determination and generosity have helped raise vital funds that will support unpaid Carers across Derbyshire.

These funds will help us continue providing wellbeing support, opportunities for connection, and much-needed time out for Carers who dedicate so much of themselves to caring for others.

A huge thank you to everyone who donated, cheered Rich on, and supported his fundraising journey. Special thanks also to Advanced Building Plastics Ltd and their wonderful customers for their support throughout the campaign 🙏

Our CEO, Helen Weston and our fabulous Marathon Man, Rich had the opportunity to meet MP Jonathan Davies last week.

Running the London Marathon is an amazing accomplishment, but Rich has also managed to raise over £1300 so far on JustGiving (you can still donate 👉 https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/fundraisingforcarers-richbarr-marathon), plus even more through raffles he has organised 🎟️.

This funding will go towards helping unpaid Carers with respite and opportunities to enjoy life outside of their caring responsibilities ✨.

MP Jonathan Davies said, “DCA is an incredible charity, providing support and resources to unpaid Carers and their families to help in the challenging circumstances they face.
Many of these Carers are young people who are doing their very best to support a family member with a physical or mental health condition, disability, or addiction ❤️.”

In Jonathan’s listening event last year, Carers told him they often feel invisible and unheard – we hope that Rich’s work has gone some way in shining a spotlight on the sacrifices they make for their loved ones 💖.

Jonathan will soon be holding another listening event for unpaid Carers in Mid Derbyshire to find out what more he can do to support them.
