One of the easiest ways to make your garden feel more expensive, polished and inviting?

Treat it like an extension of your home.

For this project, I carried the colour palette and feel of the open plan living space through to the raised terrace, creating a seamless flow between indoors and out.

My favourite finishing touch?

Outdoor rugs, cushions and throws.

They add colour, comfort and personality, turning a patio into a space you’ll actually want to spend time in.

Your living room shouldn’t feel like a playroom.

But it does need to support real family life.

I recently shared this thought in a Homebuilding & Renovating article about creating family living rooms that work for everyone.

One of the biggest mistakes I see homeowners make is designing around individual items.

The sofa.

The paint colour.

The coffee table.

Instead, I encourage my clients to start by asking:

• How do I want this room to feel?
• How will we use it every day?
• What’s not working right now?

When you start there, every design decision becomes easier.

The result isn’t just a room that looks beautiful.

It’s a room that works for your family and feels calm, cohesive and enjoyable to spend time in.

Because good design isn’t about creating a showroom.

It’s about creating a home.

What started as a very plain white new-build has slowly been transformed room by room into a home full of warmth, colour and personality ✨

I’ve always believed a home should feel uplifting, personal and completely liveable. Somewhere that supports everyday life while still feeling calm, layered and beautifully pulled together.

Every room in our home has its own identity, but I’ve worked hard to create flow throughout using colour, texture, lighting and thoughtful details that connect the spaces together.

I’m honestly so excited that our home has now been shortlisted for Best Home in the Home Awards 2026 in partnership with .co.uk 🤍

Still slightly pinching myself that my own home has been shortlisted in multiple categories for the 2026 uFurnish Home Awards 🥹🏡💕

As an interior designer, creating a home that feels personal, layered and truly reflective of how we live has always been so important to me. Every room has evolved over time and each space has been designed to feel both beautiful and liveable for real family life.

This living room has been shortlisted in the Home Awards 2026 in partnership with .co.uk and I’m honestly so excited.

What started as a very plain new-build space with white walls and very little personality was transformed into a room full of warmth, depth and character through confident colour, layered lighting and thoughtful design.

Because great design isn’t just about how a home looks.

It’s about how it makes you feel.
