Aloe Vera has a long history of being used for medicinal purposes. It has antioxidant and antibacterial properties and amongst the many uses, it can be great for treating sores, particularly burns, and can improve skin and prevent wrinkles by helping the skin retain moisture. The plants are succulents and store all the water in their leaves so require minimal watering. They like a morning sun position. There are large plants available for £6 and medium ones for £4 and one very large plant for £15.

Originating from South Africa, spider plants make great house plants due to their unique ability to filter air. Scientists have demonstrated that spider plants can eliminate 95% of toxins from the air in just 24 hours. They are very easy to look after. Ideally, they need to avoid direct sunlight otherwise the leaves turn pale and need watering when the soil is dry. These two large specimens are £6 each and there are also smaller ones available.

2 types... One has little white flowers. These are good for wildlife and goldfish ponds.
-water marigolds £3.00 each. These have large yellow flowers in the spring. They are a perennial and a marginal pond plant.
