⚠️ Dangerous boiler flue left disconnected after roofing work ⚠️
We installed this boiler 6 years ago and it had been running perfectly ever since.
The homeowner recently had their roof re-tiled, and during the work the boiler flue in the loft was disconnected and left like this.
The customer only realised something was wrong because the boiler started making a horrendous noise and luckily shut itself down.
A boiler flue carries dangerous combustion gases and carbon monoxide safely outside the property, so leaving it disconnected like this could have had very serious consequences.
When we attended, we also found the roof flashing had been moved further up the roof, which meant the existing flue was now too short.
We had to install a new vertical flue kit and reconnect everything correctly to make the installation safe again.
A good reminder that any trades working near a boiler flue should ensure it is left safe and correctly connected.
