All done for now - thanks to the many people who bought our plants, both at the plant fair and over the last 8 days in the courtyard at Ashridge House.

We will be back in the courtyard 16-18th June with the stuff that’s not ready to be planted out yet. Annual bedding, Salvias, Dahlias Hanging baskets ( 14in) etc ( pic from last years summer sale 😊)

Our post plantfair plant sale continues in the courtyard by the Bakehouse cafe but only 2 Days left. BH Monday is our last day until June when we’ll be back for just 3 days ( 26/17/18 June) with bedding plants salvias etc

Still plenty of plants left - all grown by volunteers, from plants in their own gardens - SO YOU KNOW THEY GROW IN THIS AREA !!

20deg, and no rain is the forecast - So should be a fantastic day

Quick summary
We have shrubs, soft fruits, perennials (come back every year) and some lovely annuals for summer colour -
Cosmos, Cerinthe, nasturtiums ( Princess of India), & Helichrysums ( pics below) and of course sweet peas 🙂

Lots of different succulents and cacti- many in vintage handmade terracotta pots.
& Pots of beautiful Gladioli - espresso for late summer colour .

Plants are ready and waiting, but as it’s early in the year and we don’t have too much in flower we thought we’d try some illustrative labelling, so you have an idea what you’re buying 🙂 (Label construction a good telly watching job for the next couple of evenings 😂)

Weather’s looking good; coffee or a spot of lunch, wander round a beautiful garden and treat yourself to a few plants - what could be better 😉

Wild garlic anyone ?
If you fancy growing your own wild garlic - we have some lovely pots just about to flower.

Likes semi shade, moist ground, good under trees and doesn’t mind winter wet

+ a few more plants that are happy in shade.

If you need some help as to what grow where, or looking for a particular plant, most of our knowledgeable people will be looking like stylish 🙄in Pink Hats, so they are easy to spot, and will be happy to help. 😊

So a day in the rain today pricing around 2000 plants and shrubs, for next Sunday’s plantfair . Some everyday plants and some unusual plants, but all grow well this area because they’ve been grown from cuttings taken from our volunteer’s gardens.
Here’s a few.

Francoa ( common name Wedding Flower because florists love it) - Sun or partial shade

Red Astrantia - Sparkling star - lots of white ones too - Sun/ partial shade.

Geranium Beavens Variety - early flowering followed by lovely seed heads - grows anywhere but great for shade.

Red Dianthus - small neat mounds of blue foliage topped with masses of red flowers. - Sun

One week to go to our Huge Plant Fair in the grounds of Ashridge house.

More than 1500 different varieties of plants, shrubs and fruit bushes , but if you can’t make the 27th April the GOOD NEWS is that we will also have a pop up plant stall in the courtyard by The Bakehouse Cafe during the following week. So coffe/ lunch in the sunshine 🤞 and grab a plant to go!

We are on the countdown to our Mega plantfair on Sunday 27th April in the lovely gardens of Ashridge House. Enjoy a wander round the gardens; lunch at the Bakehouse Cafe; and stock up your garden at bargain prices 😃

We have Roses, Clematis, Honeysuckle, hundreds of Perennial plants just ready to be planted, ( over 1500 varieties), together with some easy grow annuals ( Cosmos, Cerinthe, & Nasturtiums for masses of summer colour)

Thought we’d have a look at some autumn colour options today. Don’t expect any of these to be in flower, but it’s a really good time to plant them for some great colour from August to December

Asters ( changed their name to Symphyotrichum - but we’ll stick with asters 🙄)- many different named varieties
Agastache
Rudbeckia
Solidago
Crocosmia - citronella ( yellow) and the huge Lucifer (red)
Persicaria - Fat domino ( red) Firetail (pink)
Sedum
