Approximately 12 months ago, we were approached by a number of business owners from Berwick upon Tweed to see if we could supply a mobile patrol security service. Unfortunately with the lack of interest, this was not achievable.
I am typing this now to see if the feeling around the need or want has changed due to the increase in crime. This would consist of having 2 experienced security officers working 8pm-8am 7 days a week. This can be adaptable depending on feedback. The officers would be responsible for patrolling the town, attending call outs made by business owners or home owners, attending calls from alarm activations, assisting with bars, pubs, night clubs, and working closely with the local authorities. The finer detail can be changed with feedback. For this to happen we would need between 80-100 sign ups all on direct debit. The more sign ups the less the direct debit.
Trust me when I say this is not a money making exercise, but if the community can fund the costs and wages, this can be achieved.
Please share and give some opinion on the matter. Again, this was raised 12 months ago and was never actioned.

BERWICK BUSINESS OWNERS:

We have been approached by Woodys Taxis due to the recent numerous burglaries in the town and have been asked if we can start doing a mobile patrol that would cover the industrial estates and anywhere else that’s applicable in the Berwick area every night.

This service would include a SIA badged patrol in a highly visible vehicle which would be checking on your premises regularly throughout the night with the option to become the call out for your alarm monitoring (if applicable).

If there is enough interest from the local area, we will happily put this service in place.
