Ooh Baby Baby, it’s a wild world 🌸

Bridie, Adam & Ollie welcomed a beautiful baby girl into the family last week. They’re all doing well & settling in at home.
She’s a little bundle of perfection 💕

We’re open online but may be a little quieter whilst we all soak up the lovely newborn baby bubbles.

An Important Update From The Design Orchard ✨

After much consideration, we’ve decided to close our physical shop for now. Like many small businesses, we’ve seen a big shift in how people prefer to shop, with more of you choosing to connect with us online or through consultations which has meant we can pause for a short while.

This also feels like the right moment for some family changes: Rita & Russ are easing into semi-retirement, and Bridie is looking forward to welcoming a new baby very soon 💛. With all of this, it feels like the perfect time for us to adjust how we work.

But don’t worry — we’re not going anywhere! The Design Orchard remains fully operational. Our website is open as usual, we’re still here for lighting & interiors advice, and our consultative service continues just the same.

We’re so grateful for your ongoing support — every message, recommendation and order means the world to us. This is simply the next chapter in our journey, and we can’t wait to share it with you.

20 years of Design Orchard!
Happy Birthday to us 🎉

What’s your earliest memory of our shop?
Mine is actually before we opened, I was 15 sat on the floor of 21 Old Courts Road painting ceiling tiles with my friend from school in excitement that my mum was opening a shop in the same town as my school!

We’ve spent all week looking back over old photos reminiscing about the good times, the friends made & the lessons learnt. We say it all the time but Rita should absolutely write a book on what it takes to get to this milestone of a small independent business.
Some of the stories are quite unbelievable…

But here we are in 2025; a very different place to 2005. Starting in Brigg, opening in Beverley in 2016 & here we will stay. Not only are we in a different place but it feels like a completely different world!

I absolutely believe we were one of the first independents to offer an experience, brands that could only be found in large stores & city centres - we brought to our small towns. A coffee whilst you browsed & a small family that remembered your face and name every-time because you all genuinely became part of our roots.

Our business, the products & place may of adapted with the times but our traditional family values will always remain the same.

We thank you all for a wonderful, crazy & lovely 20 years. Here’s a toast to my Mum & Dad, the next 20 years and whatever that may bring to us all 🥂

Our Story

The Design Orchard Ltd was founded in 2005 by Rita, when she found a perfect, inspiring, little shop in the depths of Brigg, North Lincolnshire. This was where a dream was to become reality & the Design Orchard was born. The Design Orchard began as a small interiors shop and soon grew to three times the size in 2008 which gave us the much needed space to showcase even more unique products. From lighting, to artwork, to furniture and much more. In 2016 The Design Orchard opened it's second show room, this time in Beverley, a lovely town in the East Riding of Yorkshire. Our customers always say, “I need something a bit different & I knew I would find it here!”. We stock a variety of products which compliment many different homes and interior spaces. We change our style to suit the times but we never change our service & this is what makes us original, unique and we believe this is what gives us the edge.
