Hot one today for Abbott Plastering ☀️

Finished plastering a conservatory, making all walls smooth and fresh ready for decorating. Working in the heat wasn’t easy but the finish came up spot on. Prep and timing was key with the temperature so high. Another happy customer 👍

A lot of prep work involved on this one, bonding out damaged areas, scrimming cracks and getting everything ready before plastering to leave a smooth clean finish ready for decorating. Nice little transformation job on this one—turning a standard doorway into a clean arch really changes the feel of the room. Started by setting out the curve properly, cutting and fixing the arch former, then boarding it out and reinforcing the edges so it’s solid and ready for plaster. Took time shaping it so both sides are perfectly even—this is where the finish really matters.

Ceiling was next—prepped, sealed where needed, then skimmed out nice and flat with a clean, smooth finish. Once that was set up, moved onto the coving, carefully measuring and cutting all mitres so everything lines through properly around the room. Fixed and filled, then blended it in so it looks seamless against the fresh ceiling.

All finished off with a tidy skim over the arch and surrounding areas so everything ties in together—sharp lines, smooth curves, and a proper clean finish throughout. Perfect ready for decorating 👌

Plastering a big staircase in an office block is all about prep, access, and keeping a consistent finish.

Everything gets fully protected first, then any loose or damaged areas are prepped and bonded out. Working at height means using ladders or stair scaffold to safely reach all areas. Angle beads are fitted to keep all corners sharp, then walls are levelled and finished with a smooth skim, keeping a wet edge to avoid joins.

Finished with a clean trowel up, leaving it smooth and ready for paint from top to bottom.

Getting the angle bead right on a doorway is one of the most important parts of plastering. It’s what gives you those sharp, straight edges and makes the whole finish look clean and professional.

If the bead is even slightly out, it throws the whole doorway off and you’ll notice it straight away. Taking the time to set it perfectly means stronger corners, better protection from knocks and a much smoother final skim.

Another tidy job completed by Abbott Plastering – rendering an outside bay window using mesh and angle beads for extra strength and a clean sharp finish.
