Our second choice for March is the Hamamelis!! ๐ŸŒฟ

Hamamelis is a genus of flowering plants in the family Hamamelidaceae. It is commonly known as witch hazel due to its use in traditional medicine for treating various ailments, including skin conditions, insect bites and bruises ๐ŸฆŸ

These plants are deciduous shrubs or small trees that can grow up to 10 meters tall, but most species are much smaller, typically reaching only 3 to 4 meters in height. ๐Ÿก

The leaves are oval-shaped and have a wavy or toothed edge. The flowers are unique, with four slender, ribbon-like petals that are typically yellow, orange, or red in color. The flowers bloom in late Winter or early Spring, well before the leaves appear. ๐Ÿชด

The fruit of the Hamamelis plant is a hard, woody capsule that contains two seeds. The capsule splits open explosively when mature, ejecting the seeds several meters away from the parent plant ๐Ÿƒ

This is a small deciduous tree, with a small growth rate ๐ŸŒฑ

It is a fantastic choice if you are looking for a smaller sized tree. Only growing to a max height of between 5 to 10 meters ๐Ÿก

The Acer griseum is a much loved tree here in Britain. This is because of the dark green leaves, which turn into shades of reds, yellows and oranges during autumn ๐Ÿ
