Harvested some tasty produce... more weeding done and a few more construction jobs underway.

Another lesson learned 😮

We were putting household food waste into compost, fruit and veg etc. (no dairy bread or meat products). As a part of this, some potato peelings were put into the compost bin... BIG mistake!

It turns out that even the smallest sliver of the potato or skin, particularly if there are eyes still left, will grow as shown in these photos.

We have three compost bins and two were full and both had spuds reseeding themselves... absolutely amazing what life will do to survive!

I had to turn one of the full bins, into the empty one. Then the other full bin into the then empty one. Quite a bit of work. It is actually recommended to turn your compost periodically so saved me doing it later I guess... but I pulled quite a few bits of peel that were growing and have put them ready for the next burn barrel load.

So be warned with potato peel!!
