Did you know? The name Erigeron comes from the Ancient Greek words êri (meaning "early in the morning") and gérōn (meaning "old man"). The name refers to the plant's white, fluffy seed heads that appear early in the season, resembling a balding head or a white beard.

It is also called "fleabane," which comes from the old, historical belief that dried leaves from the plant could be used to repel fleas and unwanted spirits when tucked into beds or hung in doorways.

We're in for another hot week! So please make sure to give your garden a good drink as the temperatures rise, and remember that our feathered friends are feeling it too. Sparrows, Starlings and Blue T**s all rely on bathing to cool down (they can't sweat) and toads, hedgehogs and bumblebees will all be thankful too! 🐥 🐸 🐝

A bird bath isn't only a pretty garden feature, but sometime a real lifesaver. We have plenty of stone baths in all shapes and sizes, but you don't need anything fancy, any old bowl will do! You can put pebbles in the bottom as a landing pad for bumblebees. You'll be rewarded by new visitors, some of which might even be able to lend a hand with clearing of unwanted slugs and bugs!
