I spotted this big root/stump just outside the allotment. I didn't realised just how big it was till poor Mark had to move it. A lovely man from the block of flats helped us move it.
We managed to only get it as far as the first plot (not ours). On the Sunday myself and Mark, mainly Mark, moved it onto our plot. We decided to upturn it clear out most of the roots then place some grow bags on it to grow our herbs. As long as there is mint and coriander I don't care what the others are.
I finally managed to cut down the branches and make space for the trees to be planted.

Been sometime since I did an update on how the allotment is going. Both Mark and Dave took most of the pallets apart. Dave built them into raised beds. I lent a hand with the larger ones. We managed to construct one wrong, upside down. 🤔. Dave built his dog Lady a beautiful kennel and together we tidied up the junk from the front of the shed an placed it there. I was really worried at first as he wanted to build ot a lot larger but we compromised.
I found someone who had topsoil which we could have. He is a great bloke and has also said we can have his shed and anything else we could make use of from his garden.
Lots of hard work from us all, muscle aching but will be worth it.

I wasn't much use today. I spent about an hour looking for a container that held my onions which I wanted to plant. I was driving myself potty as I couldn't find them only to discover when I got home that I had left them in the house.

Mark got frustrated while laying the slabs for the greenhouse. Dave had undone the work that he had already done.

Dave started to remove the nails from the wood ready for next Sunday.

Mark (the owner of the plot next to ours) drove me a bit crazy today. On arrival I discovered that the path had been dug over with his cultivator. I have no idea why. He had also put all his junk on what was now the path and leaning against our shed. But rather than get angry I said nothing.

Another Sunday at the allotment, I dug up a chicken egg which did surprise me but occurring to another plot holder it was probably hidden by a fox. Talking of which there was a poor fox with a limp who came really close for some meat off our sandwiches.

Spoke to Roger about taking on a half plot next to ours. The only problem is that we would have to pay another £66 per year, yet if we take on a full plot it's cheaper.

I purchased a new composs bin and an airtight barrel. Mark bought 3 bags of composs.

While I dug over the plot Mark tidied up and put the composs soil into the planters.

I took the 4 remaining sunflower plants that have survived on my windowsill, and repotted them and put them in the shed for now.

Sunday 26th February. We have finally finished taking the gung off the greenhouse, which means we can now start laying the foundations for it to stand on.

Mark took the ivy from the outside the fence. Too be honest I don't quite understand why but it did look a lot tidier. After finishing our job myself and Dave got busy else where on the plot. He broke down the pallets while I got buckets of large stones for Mark to put by the fence.

Today was back breaking for us all and we welcomed our breaks. We had Lady visiting today it was rather cold so she was happy in the shed.

I spoke to Roger about the possibility of taking on another half plot. Ideally the one in front of us or the one next door which also has a shed.

We discussed what we had to tackle next and about extending the shed.

It was a long day today and we didn't finish up till 5.30pm.

Sunday 19th February, another day at the allotment. Mark worked on pulling up the ivy roots while myself and Dave worked on the green house. I will be so glad when the last of the gunk is all gone. Dave brought down the wood that we got off my uncle.

Mark bought three apple trees from Costco, two eater and one cooking. The fruit trees are all the shed with plastic bags around them.

Both Mark and Dave are down at the allotment today. I have been feeling under the weather since Friday so have been resting up.

Mark has collected the slabs from Roger, another plot holder, which can be used under the greenhouse. Talking of which Dave has been working on removing the gunk. Hopefully by the end of the month it will be all set up.

Another few hours spent at the allotment, I worked on trying to remove the putty from the greenhouse it is very slow going.

Dave has bought a pear tree for the plot.

Got news today that the committee plan to have a clubhouse built on site which will effect the half the plot in frount of ours. They will need to remove the gate and six panels of fence to allow the trucks in. It will also mean us having to just use the one gate for entering and exiting.
