PHd, alongside BSN Group Construction are pleased to have successfully handed over one of several phases of the redevelopment of the Emergency Department at Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

The new Waiting Area, Reception and Triage spaces are the start of a much needed full departmental upgrade and provides a bright, welcoming, and more engaging environment.

We look forward to continue working on the upcoming phases.

Reflecting on one of our Industrial projects that achieved practical completion in 2024, Pinnegar Hayward Design were delighted to work alongside TanRo Construction for the delivery of a new HQ building for Drywall Steel Sections in Ettingshall, Wolverhampton.

This exciting project comprised a bespoke 40,000 sq ft industrial unit, along with 43,400 sq ft of lettable industrial space comprising over 15No units, which has since become known as G5 Industrial Park.

The new Drywall building heralded a new era for this family run local company, with its striking design contributing to significant business growth for our client!

We’re proud to look back on a project that demonstrated successful collaboration and the continued delivery of value for our client!

Dressed in green to show their support for Wear It Green Day, today the team at PHd hosted a Breakfast and Coffee Morning for Mental Health Awareness Week!

Aligning with this year’s theme of ‘Action’, the morning provided an opportunity to connect, spark meaningful conversations and break down stigma to reinforce the importance of creating supportive working environments that promote wellbeing.

As most adults spend at least a third of their time at work, small acts of kindness and connectivity can make a meaningful difference to mental health and wellbeing. At PHd, we recognise the importance of fostering a positive workplace culture where people feel valued, cared for, heard and empowered to thrive!

Reflecting on a great result -University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust RAAC Roof & Tomotherapy project picked up the Integration & Collaboration Award at the Constructing Excellence Midlands Awards.

Reece leads the production of tender and construction information, while also providing on-site support and supervision; meeting project briefs and identifying efficiencies wherever possible.

PHd are excited to announce that we are currently working alongside Harris Tech Services and Lily Finn for the fast-track delivery of a new science laboratory within the first floor of the King Edward VI High School For Girls' historic building! Meticulous planning has been undertaken for this scheme, including the letting of specialist enabling packages and the co-ordination of complex M&E services to ensure the new laboratory will be delivered, on time, on budget and to a high quality standard.

In recent years we have supported the school with numerous projects ranging from the creation of a new DT, Art and IT block to life cycle refurbishment and maintenance. Our team brings an extensive track record of delivering schemes in both state sector and private schools, colleges and universities and are well versed in the requirements and operational limitations that often come with Education sector projects.

A huge thank you to Business for Birmingham for organising this spring’s Disney themed event supporting Acorns Children’s Charity. Everyone brought amazing energy with them for such a wonderful cause which is a great reminder of the power of community and connection!

We are delighted to announce the promotion of Mark Jones to CDM Lead!

Mark joined PHd in 2020 as a Senior Project Architect and operated mainly in the healthcare sector delivering a diverse range of projects. In 2024, Mark led a comprehensive review of how CDM regulations were delivered across the practice, and he developed new procedures aligned with industry best practice which he successfully implemented throughout 2025.

Alongside this, Mark has acted as CDM Principal Designer on the majority of PHd’s design projects and supported the growth of our third party CDM services. This has included leading major infrastructure schemes such as the decarbonisation works at Gatwick Airport.

This promotion reflects Mark’s leadership, technical expertise and the continued growth of CDM Principal Designer services at PHd.
