This is a staircase over 100 years old no plywood, no mdf, just timber, it was very squeaky and you could feel a bit of movement, surprisingly no glue blocks, I think having central heating over the last 30/40 years the timber had shrunk and any glue had dried out , extra timber battens glued and screwed sorted it out nicely .
