Fabricators and installers of art, display furniture and bespoke joinery, based in Digbeth, Birmingh

Plane Structure works with artists, designers, galleries, architects and businesses to design and make artworks, furniture, display furniture, plinths and exhibition stands. We project manage and deliver whole gallery exhibition installations and hang and maintain art collections for corporate clients. Director Matthew Foster is from a fine art background and began his career working with gallery

technical teams. He established Plane Structure in 2011 to fulfill a need for skilled art fabricators in Birmingham. Since then the company and its workshop has grown to deliver specialist carpentry and joinery as well as gallery installation. Plane Structure now works with arts organisations, architects and creative business on a wide range of projects.

We've been up all hours fabricating and installing this year's Birmingham City University stand at Graduate Fashion Week in London's Brick Lane. Custom-made steel frame, light box, flat screen TVs and a swing! A very long day yesterday but at least we got a salt-beef bagel to help us through. www.graduatefashionweek.com/

Back in July we optimistically advertised that our upstairs studios would be available for let from 'late summer 2016'. Well we're nearly there: walls have been moved, electrics and plumbing installed...just a little light concreting to go. Welcome to Fierce Festival, our first tenant!

I've enjoyed building this side table for a client in Manchester. The angled wooden base is topped with easy-clean yellow laminate, creating a pleasing contrast between bright and subtle shades.

We're now experts at making open-sided boats! Building the set for The Old Rep's Christmas production of The Wind in the Willows.

We've made a set of jump-boxes for The Jerwood Centre at Birmingham Royal Ballet, to be used to help dancers' training. The boxes can be reconfigured in any combination and are made from birch plywood with a non slip rubber top on each box.
