For many people decluttering is a difficult process. Declutter&Shred has never been just about removing junk at lowest cost ( and from some of the quotes I’ve seen on here) to a lane or field near you. It’s always been about doing things as a registered waste carrier in the right way to a certified tip and charging accordingly.

Maybe even more importantly where I’ve helped people declutter or deal with hoarding, I’ve been respectful of their lost one’s possessions, gifting to charity for reuse wherever possible so that the minimum amount goes to the tip.

I also help people with hoarding and letting go. I do this by understanding not lecturing: Being alongside you to help, not lecturing or telling you what you ‘should’ do, I understand how to uncover what’s really going on.

For this service I charge £35 per hour , plus disposal at cost.

So, why use Declutter &Shred.?
I specialise in clearing the houses of those who have sadly left us. Instead of just putting everything in the skip, take any valuable items and your emotional memories such as photos and treasures ( like the little trinkets you bought on holiday or a school trip, then leave the test to me. I’ll sort it and gift what I can to charity shops or community projects. Only then will I dispose of the rest. It takes care and sensitivity but always with respect . That’s why you should use DeclutterandShred 👏

Last year I was able to help relieve the distress of a client and clear his mother’s house. Despite being let down by a charity collection, most useable items were gifted and the house was cleared in time. Some items were uncovered that he had not found and was unaware of including some valuable coins

At the end of the clearance, my partner and I took some poppy seeds from the garden and grew them. The client was delighted to see that flowers had grown

So, the more I do the decluttering of people spaces, the more I realise the journey that people have to let go. Sometimes it’s for their own peace and clarity of mind and sometimes because letting go of childhood memories and the family home can seem overwhelming. I always try to re gift to local charities or , if they won’t take item/s , to someone who can give items a new lease of life or purpose.
