Morning all.

It saddens me to say that we have had to organise a camera on the telephone box as someone yet again has stolen all the flower seeds. Legally (I think) we have to pre warn you of this, I have also added a sign in the seed swap in case anyone visits that aren't in this group.
The footage will only be looked into if the seeds are taken again and I will be popping by each morning as usual.
If anyone adds any packs, could I ask you to write 'BISHOPS LYDEARD SEED SWAP' on the pick. It may deter anyone from pinching them to sell on.

Thank you to those who helped organise this, it wasn't an easy task.

I've sat here for the past 30 minutes, trying to figure out what to say on this post. I write this with such a heavy heart and to be honest, I'm also fuming!
It's been just 17 days since we opened the seed swap and in those 17 days, someone has swiped near on every packet of seeds, not once but twice.

To get this seed swap up and running, we have worked with the Paper Shop and the Co op who have all donated probably about £80+ worth of seeds that along with private donations would take that figure up to I'd say over £100. No one needs that many seeds, so I imagine the person/people who have stolen these and I say stolen because that's what it boils down to, have taken them to either sell on or to grow small plants and sell them. There was about 15 packs of tomatoes, mainly of the same variety, so definitely not for personal use.

I really don't know where to go from here, we can't keep feeding these to someone every time we add more seeds. Caroline added more just yesterday and they have all gone too.

If that person/s is/are reading this: We all know how this is meant to work, you take SOME, you leave SOME. This is not your personal stash for you to make some cash with. I pray that you have a small bit of conscience somewhere in you and you return the seeds so the villagers can all make use of them. If not, we will have to close it. You are just greedy and selfish!

If anyone has any ideas on how to protect these, do get in touch. I have been discussing a camera which is an option although we shouldn't have to.

So, who has been down by the Seed Swap today? Did you notice how wonderful it looks. Can't thank Foster enough, she has really completed the look of our old telephone box. In her words 'let's hope this encourages more people to use the seed swap' and I couldn't agree more. Thank you so much Kate, I love it 😍

I am so pleased to say that the Bishops Lydeard Seed Swap is officially open for 2022.

A huge thanks to our wonderful Paper Shop for allowing us to put a donation pot by the till. We raised a massive £45 which was spent on the seeds they had on sale. They also gave us unwanted packs from the magazines. This has really bumped up what we have available. Thanks again.

I have tidied up what we already had, added a load of my own packs that I've been saving and put them in alphabetical order, hoping that will make it a bit easier to search.

We also have some exciting news regarding the outside of the telephone box, I'm not going to spoil the surprise so keep your eyes peeled 👀.

Not to put a downer on anything, however this needs to be said. May I remind everyone using the seed swap that it is for you to take just what you need and replace/add packs. Without this honesty, it just won't work and I really don't want another repeat of last year. I have purchased some small brown envelopes for your use and left a pen.

Just to let you all know that the seed swop will be emptied tomorrow whilst they telephone box has a pretty uplift which starts on Wednesday. Once completed, all will be returned to normal.

In the meantime, who wants to share any success stories?
