This garden had a sloping, unusable side section that was crying out for some structure. Now it has two distinct spaces for outdoor living, built to last.

We levelled and retained the slope using timber sleepers, built in steps, then laid a weed-suppressed gravel base with decorative stone to create a raised dining terrace. Further into the garden, gabion walls packed with local stone form a natural seating area around a central fire pit. Low maintenance, full of texture, and completely in keeping with the landscape.

From a plain lawn and tired concrete pads to a stunning outdoor space — this recent project shows what a full garden makeover can really look like.

We stripped everything back, brought in the mini digger, and got to work.

The old utility concrete steps at the front have been replaced with sleek porcelain slabs, and the rear steps were completely smashed out and rebuilt using beautiful Douglas fir timbers with matching porcelain treads — a real statement feature.

Throughout the garden, we laid Purbeck gravel around the stepping stones, giving that classic Dorset character with a contemporary edge. Clean lines, natural materials, and so much more usable space.
