A huge response to my story with this yesterday such amazing support off so many people ♥️ Iv been asked a few times to do a post so its easier to find -

I started speaking to our local MP about the lack of laws and the limited powers police have when it comes to removing a person’s driving licence after they cause an accident while under the influence of drink or drugs.

The number of people, including ourselves, who can’t believe this isn’t already in place has been incredible. It really feels like unless you go through something like this, you’d have no idea.

There is currently a survey being discussed in Parliament to gather public views on laws surrounding dangerous drink and drug driving. I have the link to it and will share on the next page

It’s not a quick survey, but if anyone can spare five minutes to complete it, it could genuinely help make a difference if these changes are passed.

The survey closes on 11th May 2026, and hopefully it can help bring about a much needed change to the current systems in place. https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/proposed-changes-to-penalties-for-motoring-offences

Keep forgetting to do these updates every week not much to report at the moment we are waiting for a decision on further surgery thats needed to Lewis’s right side of his pelvis. It looks like this wont be done for a while as its another big operation and needs lots of discussions to figure it out so currently the plan is to work towards rehab and getting home 🙏🏼 Hopefully have some progress updates soon on everything to do with this 🙏🏼 We are so grateful for everyones constant love & support ♥️

Update since the move to Salford just over a two weeks ago:
Had another CT scan. Even though several were already done in Preston, the team in Salford wanted to carry out another one as there’s a huge amount of hospital notes from everything that has happened over the past nearly five months
A biopsy was also done on a fluid collection in the pelvis, which thankfully came back all clear.
There’s also been a lot of physio. At the moment it’s focused on basic things, like simply sitting on the edge of the bed. The injuries were so serious and caused a lot of damage, so recovery is happening in very small steps, and it’s very painful. But progress even small is so important to us right now

Yesterday was bye to preston and transfer day to Salford Royal — we knew this moment was coming as we begin the next stage of the journey to bring him home.

We can’t thank the team at Preston Hospital enough. Saying they saved Lewis’s life still doesn’t feel like enough to express what they’ve done for us over the past 15 weeks. We truly owe them everything.

Now it’s a new place with new faces, and we’re hopeful this means we’ll soon be having that long-awaited conversation about discharge. 🙏🏼 I never imagined in a million years that Lewis would be away from us at home for this long after being admitted on 27th October.

New ward day hoping this is a step closer to home we so desperately need now that we’re 15+ weeks into hospital life 🤯

It’s been a while since my last update, things have been busy so here’s a quick recap of the last week or so:
CT scan for bowel and bladder
Nerve conduction test on the right leg
IVC filter removed
Now waiting to hear about the possibility of another pelvic operation
There’s still a lot happening, but the days are getting brighter and we keep pushing forward.
Thank you for the constant love and support

Over 40 hours of surgery went into repairing multiple broken bones and ruptured organs. Looking through the X-rays and CT scans from the day Lewis was admitted to the latest ones taken about a week ago shows the extent of the injuries he suffered. Seeing healing now is a testament to the many hours of surgery and the extraordinary care provided by the doctors, surgeons, nurses, and everyone involved. This has made me want to do something to thank everyone involved and to help others in the future. I’ll be planning something when the time is right. ❤️
