Update on Roman’s mission to Ukraine… He managed to cram 8 diesel generators into his car and successfully delivered them to his home town in Ukraine just after Christmas. Top man!

For the past few months a Ukrainian guy called Roman has been working in plumb Center (Wolseley) in wetherby. This Christmas he’s driving to Ukraine to deliver some generators. Hi. There’s a cold snap on the way this week. If you have an outside tap it’s best to turn off the water supply to it inside the house. Try and find where the supply pipe to the tap is inside the house, Look for an isolation valve like the one in the photo and using a slotted screwdriver turn the valve 90 degrees to turn off the water. Next go outside and open the outside tap so that any water that freezes can expand out of the tap without breaking it. 👍👍

All landlords take note:

Under the extended regulations, from 1st October 2022 a carbon monoxide alarm will be required in all rooms where there is a fixed combustion appliance – such as gas boilers or gas fires. However, gas cookers are excluded from the updated regulation.

When any additional appliances are installed in your home, a new carbon monoxide alarm will also be required to be fitted. The cost of installing and maintaining these alarms will fall on your landlord. However, the responsibility to regularly test your alarms still lies with you as a tenant.

Here’s a good example of how a boiler service can prevent a breakdown.
During a service the customer mentioned the boiler had needed resetting a couple of times. After inspection it was clear the electrodes (which ignite the gas) were worn and bent out of shape. The new ones should sort this out before it causes a problem to the customer.

recommend your family and friends get their boilers serviced and this might prevent a breakdown ever happening.

Boston spa beer festival is coming soon! I’m proud to be a part of the team that makes the event happen.

This year It’s being held on friday 28th and saturday 29th October

I’ve just been to a boiler which is in need of replacing well before it should have been. It’s such a shame they never had it serviced.

Lack of servicing which has led to the main heat exchanger becoming blocked up gradually over time.

It’s an ‘ideal heat’ boiler, the same type of boiler that is installed in most houses on all the local new estates, shires grove, Newton kyme, church fields and Spofforth hill.

More boiler ‘surgery’ this morning. If you have a combi, this item here heats your hot water. This one has become full of limescale over the years so needed replacing. All fixed now👍

This is probably the best time of year to have your boiler serviced.

Here’s a couple of reasons:

1. If I discover any problems with the boiler and it has to be turned off for a while it’s best to get them sorted while the weather is warm.

2. In autumn everyone turns on their boilers and I get loads of breakdown calls. It’s best to get it done before the autumn rush.
