Yes this is a gardening account, and yes this may lose me customers, but a child is being killed every 15 minutes & our media and government are turning a blind eye. The Hamas terrorist attacks were inexcusable, but so is Israel's response which is widely supported in parliament. 2 million innocent civilians live in Gaza, half of which are children, 40% of the total population is under 14 years of age. At least 700 children have been killed in the last 8 days. Israel has dropped 12,000 tonnes of explosives on an area 1/4 the size of London since Oct 7th, this is the equivalent power to the nuclear bomb dropped on Hiroshima. They have cut off electricity, food, & water, which is a collective punishment on all of the civilians of Gaza, which constitutes a war crime. The government and even the leader of the opposition have refused to even call for a ceasefire. The UN & the International Criminal Court are being denied access to investigate. Israel's defence minister Yoav Gallant has referred to the population of Gaza as "human animals" and claimed there is no difference between Hamas terrorists and the people of Gaza, this is the language of genocide, and it's happening in our name. Israel told Gazans to flee to the south then bombed residential housing in Khan Yunis where they told them to flee. This isn't even mentioning the destabilising effects this could have in the middle east if neighbouring countries get involved. This post won't change anything, but we have no power beyond the conversations we have with each other, and the collective empathy for those who do not have a voice. A ceasefire must happen immediately, history will condemn those who excuse Israel's disproportionate response.
