Garden Gems I'm a self-employed gardener, passionate about outdoor spaces that connect beautiful environments, respect for wildlife and organic food production.

My horticultural career began in 2004 when I started working at Cherry Tree Nursery as The Plant Sales and Office Assistant. During this time I was able to acquire a huge amount of plant knowledge from daily contact with plants and stock records. I soon realised that working with plants was my vocation and I returned to education to study for a National Certificate in Horticulture from Kingston Ma

urward College. During my time there I won two awards. One was for Best Plot and the second was for Best Plant Knowledge, I was the first student to ever get 100% on an end of term Plant ID test.. I also sat the RHS level 2 exams and received a commendation. After qualifying my first job was maintaining the two acre grounds of a Care Home in central Bournemouth. In September 2013 I decided that as the work I had most enjoyed was maintaining and developing small private gardens, it was time to commit to full time self-employment.. I am very glad I did as I have been able to develop my skills and my ideas in an area that I really love, whilst helping people who value and appreciate my work.
