Weekend progress update 🛠️🌿

A productive couple of days here at the 1930s renovation! While we’re waiting on the plumber to sort the downstairs loo and for the plaster to fully dry in the front bedroom, it felt like the perfect time to shift focus outdoors.

The garden has had a much-needed clear-out — old shrubs and overgrown bushes gone, and already it’s opened the space up massively. It’s amazing how much bigger it feels with a bit of breathing room!

Back inside, we kept the momentum going by cutting all the skirting boards to size and getting them primed, ready for fitting soon. Lots of small steps, but all moving things forward.

Slowly but surely, it’s all coming together 👌

Okay I need some advice because my brain is officially fried with this 😅

When we bought our house, we were told by our solicitor that all permitted development rights had been removed… so we’ve been working on the assumption that we’d need full planning permission for any changes.

Because of that, we’ve been bracing ourselves for delays, extra costs, the whole thing 🙃

BUT… I’ve just gone back through the local authority search, and unless I’m completely misunderstanding it (very possible), it looks like the only thing that’s actually restricted is change of use to an HMO?

So now I’m sat here wondering if we’ve been preparing for planning permission delays this whole time for no reason 🤦‍♀️

Has anyone dealt with something similar? Does this sound like PD rights are only removed for that specific use, or am I reading it totally wrong?

Would really appreciate any insight before I spiral any further 😂
