Saturday mornings at Woolies — who remembers?
Mum pushing the pram, picking up a few bits, and us kids glued to the chart rack, flicking through cassettes and vinyl to see who made it to No.1 this week.
Madonna, The Eagles, Alison Moyet… and always that one single you just had to have — if you could convince Mum!
Did you rush to the music section like this? What was the first single you ever bought?

The local shop — where a pound felt like a fortune!
From picking out your favourite penny sweets to sneaking a look at the ciggies behind the counter, this was more than just a shop — it was the heart of the neighbourhood.
Mars bars, Curly Wurlys, Hubba Bubba, and a kindly nod from the shopkeeper who knew everyone by name.
Who remembers popping in after school or on a Saturday morning with pocket money burning a hole in your hand?

School dinners — love them or hate them, you never forgot them!
Lumpy mash, mystery meat, and that one kid who always asked for seconds. Metal trays, a splash of vinegar, and custard that could hold up a spoon — it was all part of the experience.
And let’s not forget the dinner ladies — queens of the canteen and keepers of order!
What was your go-to dinner time favourite… or the one you tried to trade away every time?

Now this was a proper community!
Bunting across the road, tables full of homemade cakes, and neighbours you actually knew! Street parties like this brought everyone out — dancing, laughing, and making memories that lasted a lifetime.
Whether it was a Jubilee, a wedding, or just a good excuse for a knees-up, we knew how to celebrate.
Do you remember your street doing this? Who still talks to their neighbours like this today?

Street party royalty — paper crowns and jelly for days!
There was nothing quite like a long row of tables, fizzy pop, and plates piled high with sausage rolls, sandwiches, and fairy cakes. Everyone had a crown, even if it was made from a cereal box and a bit of foil!
Do you remember parties like this?
Whether it was for the Jubilee, a royal wedding, or just summer fun — this was childhood magic at its best.

“You’ll be growing spuds behind them ears!”
If you didn’t hear this while getting your face scrubbed within an inch of its life, did you even grow up in a proper household?
Mum had a grip like a vice and a flannel that could take paint off a wall — but you came out sparkling.
Who remembers bath time battles like this? What were the sayings in your house?

Hands up if you were guilty of this!
Back in the day, nothing beat plonking yourself right in front of the telly — only to hear, “You’ll ruin your eyes sitting that close!”
That warm hum of the box, the flickering glow, and Saturday morning cartoons… pure childhood magic.
Did your parents yell at you too? Or were you the rebel who didn’t move an inch?
