Hello. I’m Paul McDermid and I’m based in Bracknell. I’m mainly a kitchen and bathroom fitter but over the years I have learnt and (hopefully) mastered a large number of other building trades. Carpentry and joinery are my first love. I enjoy working with wood both for decorative or structural situations. I have spent the last 15 years fitting kitchens and bathrooms for one company in Marlow but following the owners retirement I have decided to now do exclusively my own work. I will happily take on new kitchen fit outs (including the rip out if required). I will do all of the plumbing work required for the new installation although I do not carry out gas work as that requires specific certificates. I will do small to medium scale electrical work such as connecting appliances, changing lighting or adding extra plug sockets etc. I can install new ceramic tiling as part of the kitchen fit out or leave this to your own tiler if that’s preferable.
I will fit and remove new bathroom suites including moving any plumbing that needs alteration. I will deal with any carpentry issues such as floor reinforcement or renewal and again I am happy to add tiles to the finished product or to carry out any required electrical work where needed.
I can carry out carpentry tasks as part of a project or on their own. I will fit new doors, architrave and skirting, build shelves or just assemble flat pack furniture if you don’t want to do it. I’m happy to do structural carpentry such as putting up studwork walls or similar but I do not tackle roofing work. I will change radiators or plumb in kitchen appliances as needed. I enjoy fitting laminate or engineered wood floors and have all the necessary tools to carry out this work accurately and to the highest finish possible.
I will do repair and pre-decorative preparations such as plastering or bonding of walls and will do small amounts of painting and decorating.
I have two large clients in Reading. One is a children day nursery who I carry out all their maintenance tasks for. I have also been entrusted to re-fit all of their children’s w/c’s as well as helping them with the refurbishment of some of their play rooms. The other client is an owner of a number of homes of multiple occupancy. I have carried out a number of refurbishment projects for them which they have been very satisfied with.
I am used to working in private clients homes as well as commercial premises and when working at the day nursery have had to work to deadlines based on when the children would be returning.
Both the nursery and the HMO owner will happily provide references or the owner of the kitchen and bathroom showroom will also vouch for the quality of my work.
Please feel free to contact me by telephone or Facebook Message to discuss any requirements you may have.
