Iroko Door Installation at Ascot Racecourse 🐎

We recently completed the installation of 22 bespoke Iroko doors, replacing the original stable doors which have stood on site for several decades.

Each door was measured, crafted and fitted individually to suit the existing building conditions, ensuring a precise fit and a consistent finish throughout. All doors were later fully oiled and finished, enhancing durability while allowing the natural quality of the Iroko timber to stand out.

We recently completed a wide‑ranging perimeter and access control package for a school in Slough, delivering a tailored solution to suit both security and day‑to‑day staff and visitor use.

PUBLIC ATTRACTION BOUNDARY 📍

We recently completed the installation of over 400 linear metres of 868 Twin Wire Mesh to a car park boundary at a public attraction in Berkshire. The works replaced an existing chainlink fence that had suffered damage and wear over several decades and was in clear need of an upgrade.

While the result looks clean and straightforward, the installation required careful planning due to the steep gradient across the site, ensuring the fence line remained secure, consistent, and visually aligned throughout.

The new boundary delivers a modern, sleek and professional finish, bringing the car park in line with the standards and values of the facility.

Working Safely Alongside Critical Infrastructure ⚠️

We recently completed this installation of 1.8m high galvanised chainlink fencing on black RSA posts for a sports facility in Berkshire. The client chose this specification to remain in keeping with the existing fencing across the site, providing a consistent and practical boundary solution.

A key part of this project involved working in close proximity to a high‑pressure gas main. Throughout the works, we maintained constant communication with both the customer and the gas company to ensure every stage of the installation was carried out safely and without disruption.

High-Security 358 Mesh Installation in Oxfordshire 🔐

This week saw the completion of a recent project for a long-standing customer in Oxfordshire. Metafence installed several hundred metres of 358 High Security Mesh to a private site that works closely with some of the world’s leading companies. The boundary included 2.4m high runs securing key operational areas, with 1.8m high fencing used to protect and define the car park.

As part of the works, we also installed a state of the art composite knee rail system. Composite is a great choice for long‑term external environments — it’s durable, low‑maintenance, and is produced using more sustainable materials, making it a reliable and environmentally responsible alternative to traditional timber.

The Cost of Cutting Corners ⚠️

In September 2024, a fencing contractor installed a lower-quality mesh fencing system to a school boundary. Unfortunately, the standard of installation didn’t meet expectations, and by summer 2025 we were called in to assess the site.

We listened to the customer’s concerns and presented several options for a more suitable solution. The decision was made to dismantle the existing fence and replace the entire boundary with a high-quality 868 Twin Wire Mesh System — a much better fit for the school’s long-term needs.

Steel mesh systems are known for their low maintenance and durability, but poor installation undermines those benefits. Cutting costs upfront often means sacrificing the security and lifespan of the boundary itself. This is yet another example of a worrying trend within the UK Market of lighter gauge mesh systems and low quality wire welds for the sake of minimal cost savings. Metafence remain committed to delivering the highest quality systems on the market and prioritising long-lasting security solutions for all of our customers.

Child Friendly Boundary Fencing For Local Primary School 🏫

We recently completed a full perimeter solution for a local primary school, combining safety, durability, and modern design.

Our team installed over 200 metres of ROSPA-Approved Bow-Top railings, delivering a secure boundary that meets the highest safety standards for children while maintaining an attractive, professional finish.

To complement this, the team delivered over 150 metres of bespoke timber palisade fencing, built to the architect’s specification. This design incorporated varying pale widths and heights, creating a distinctive, contemporary look that blends natural materials with a modern aesthetic.
