Lots of work went on and not shown on the show. Wrong decisions were made but in the end up the house was something to be proud of. Might not have gone to plan but a lot of lessons learnt by my girlfriend. There were also lots of things going on behind the scenes which weren't shown. But hey ho you live and learn. 😜

Took out the partition wall to open up the room. Tiles and wallpaper removed off the walls plaster popped so a little bit of plastering was needed in the kitchen. The lovely sticky tiles flooring has been removed with a wallpaper stripper (the girlfriend has some good ideas at times!) New kitchen layout was required as it was very claustrophobic and some wasted space. Units were reused, maximizing space by adding small cupboards, second hand job and extractor fitted, cupboards spray painted to find the colour we wanted, new handles, new work top, sink and tap. Bottle shelf built and wooden plinths added as a finish along with boxing in around the boiler along with the Tiling. Quite happy with how it's turned out. Flooring will be floor boards sanded and varnished as a natural finish. Still a few finishing touches but nearly done.

Before images of the house I'm working on in between jobs. No budget for a new kitchen so limited spending. Will use what we can as you really don't need to rip it all out if nothing is broken. New work surfaces, sink, tap and tiles.

Met Simon O Brian at the Great House Giveaway reveal in Wakefield. Might not have made a profit but it has not deterred us and Helena has learnt from her mistakes! Going forward we have our own property which we are doing up without a budget. Watch this space! It will be slow going around work but we will keep you posted on our own renovation project.

So looks like I bailed my girlfriend out on The Great House Giveaway!! There was a lot more behind the scenes that didn't get any screen time.
