⭐️ After selling out super quickly of our ‘Evening of Flowers’ event on 30th July, I’ve decided to slightly change our earlier workshop on the 10th July to also be…

⭐️ ‘An Evening of Flowers’ ❤️ Friday 10th July 6pm-8.30pm at the farm in Merthyr Cynog, Brecon

⭐️ Taking much the same format as my later event, we’ll enjoy a glass of fizz by the river Yscir in the PYO site (weather allowing) and then you’ll enjoy a short tour of the cutting garden. We’ll then pop into the workshop where a beautiful bucket full of flowers will be waiting for you (already picked by me). You’ll watch a short demo from me of how to create a hand-tied bouquet and you’ll leave with your own gorgeous creation, wrapped in kraft paper 💐

⭐️ Fizz (alcoholic & non-alcoholic available), Tea, Coffee & Nibbles all included. Snips are provided & absolutely no prior floristry experience is needed!

✨ P E O N I E S ✨

⭐️ Is our Peony field the highest in the UK? Mmmmm….I’m not entirely sure but I think we’d be in with a shout!

⭐️ Our glorious edge-of-Epynt Peonies have been stunning this year, churning out the flowers & bringing joy to our lovely customers ❤️

⭐️ Peonies love good airflow to combat the risk of fungal disease- they certainly get that at the top of our farm 😂

⭐️ My star Peony this year has been ‘Shirley Temple’, a prolific flowering Peony, beginning as light pink and fading to white. She’s such a vigorous beauty! The only pity is that she doesn’t have a scent

✨ S O W I N G ✨

⭐️ Now’s the time to get direct sowing if you haven’t already!

⭐️ The soil is warm and wet so pop your seeds directly into the ground in shallow, pre-watered drills

⭐️ Half-hardy annuals do really well direct sown:

- Zinnia, Cosmos, Sunflowers, Amaranth & Strawflowers are all well worth a shot!

⭐️ You’ll be amazed by how quickly they catch up with your other seedlings that you may have sown previously in seed trays/cells 💪🏻

✨ The Edge of Epynt ✨

⭐️ Our beautiful farm, Yscirfechan, is right on the edge of gorgeous Epynt, now a military training area where our wonderful armed forces train throughout the year

⭐️ This makes for an interesting soundtrack when I’m out picking flowers: machine gun fire, mortars & low-flying military aircraft. It’s pretty cool!

⭐️ I love our unique landscape & how the military and farming have shaped it. It’s part of who were are in Brecon ❤️

⭐️ Thank you so much for supporting my small business by booking on to ‘An Evening of Flowers’ on 30th July. It sold out super quickly! 🙏🏻

⭐️ ‘How to Create a Hand-Tied Bouquet’ will take place on 10th July 10am-12pm (£45pp) and there are still spaces so book now via the website

⭐️ ‘How to Style a Vase Arrangement’ will take place on 22nd August 10am-12pm (£45 pp) so come along with some friends/family or on your own for a wholesome morning out ❤️

⭐️ Both workshops include your own flowers to take away (bring your own vase for the vase arrangement). Snips can be borrowed & the kettle will be on all the time 😎 Did I mention there’d be homemade cake as well? 😋

Come along to the farm, on the edge of Epynt, learn a new skill or brush up on an old one, go away with some beautiful flowers & special memories 💐 I can’t wait to welcome you!

No one could believe we could grow such beautiful flowers on the edge of Epynt ❤️ 💪🏻

Now, to put our feet up with a G&T and we’ll look forward to fulfilling all your orders next week 💐

And…we’re off! The Peonies were cut last night & are ready for their new homes today at Hay-on-Wye’s Cider Fest 💐

We can’t wait to see you and chat all things about our Edge-of-Epynt flowers 💐

We’ll have Peonies & jam jar posies for sale as well as lots of leaflets & info about our workshops, talks & tours and weddings ❤️
