Big News for Bridge of Weir .
One door closes another opens.
Whilst many of you have been upset by the closure of Gibb-Stuarts we are now able to share with you some great news . In the early spring of 2024 Bridge of weir will have a brand new Home Hardware store, owned and managed by Wright's Home Hardware .
The new store will be located at the site of old British Legion club at Livery walk next to the Co-op and public Cark park and once full remodeled will be of a similar size .
So, a win-win for Bridge of Weir not only do we regain a well-run family owed Home Hardware store, but we also see a vacant under used site becomes a vibrant retail space .
This coupled with the retail redevelopment of the old Gibb-Stuarts site will put Bridge of weir firmly on the map as a go to destination for all your shopping needs and hopefully boost footfall for all the other great local shops .
There will only be a short hiatus of weeks rather than months between Gibb-Stuarts closing and Wright's Home Hardware opening up at Livery Walk .
SHARED HISTORY.
Over 50 years ago Jim Ferguson owner of Wright's Home Hardware and Hugh Gibb-Stuart had the vision to set up the Home Hardware Scotland group with other forward-thinking like-minded Hardware retailers . The group has grown from strength to strength over the years and it's central warehouse in Ardrossan now services over 60 stores from the Highlands of Scotland to the North of England. Wright's themselves own and operate 10 stores in Scotland which are managed by Jim Ferguson's daughter and son in Prestwick, Troon, Girvan, Hawick, Saltcoats, Newton Stewart, Helensburgh (including a Garden Centre), Dunoon, Largs and Forres. For more information all the stores can be viewed on www.homehardwaredirect.co.uk/store-finder
Home Hardware also offer a fantastic website at homehardwaredirect.co.uk which many of you have used the click n collect service as well delivered direct to your door.
I should mention that this new development was achieved by Wright's Home Hardware alone after previous negotiations between Wright's and Gibb-Stuarts didn't secure a viable sale.
For once it's great to giving a positive announcement about retailing on the High Street .
Please embrace and welcome Wright's Home Hardware when they open in 2024 . We at Gibb-Stuarts are delighted and whole heartedly endorse this next phase of Bridge of Weir's future.
"Wrights would like to take this opportunity to wish Sandy and his family a happy and well-deserved retirement and to thank them for the big contribution and ongoing support they made to the development of the Home Hardware brand, service and ethos, one that we wholeheartedly share. We are looking forward to getting the new store up and running, and providing the same great product range, value and customer service that the village is used to. We will do our best to carry on the Gibb Stuart's legacy. Please follow us on Facebook for updates https://www.facebook.com/wrightshhbridgeofweir
