Can I ask you something a bit personal?

When you walk into your home, what's the first feeling you have? Not what you think you should feel — the actual first feeling.

For a lot of people I work with, the answer before we start is something like: it's fine, but it's not quite finished. We've never quite got it right. It doesn't really feel like us yet.

By the end that changes. What I hear is some version of "it finally feels like us" — and usually said with a sigh of relief!

That gap between ‘fine’ and ‘finally’ is exactly what I work on.

What would your answer be? 👇

Quite a lot of effort goes into making a home feel effortless.

That's the thing nobody tells you. The homes that feel calm, considered, and completely right don't happen by accident — or by minimalism. They happen because someone put the hard work in at the design stage, so you never have to do it again.

I've just written about exactly this — what makes a home genuinely easy to live in, and how to get there. Link in bio if you'd like a read.

And if it sounds like something your home needs, I'd love to hear from you. I work with clients across Bristol, Bath and the Cotswolds.

The brief was: "we don't want it to look designed."

That's one of my favourite things to hear.

Because it tells me everything. It tells me they don't want a show home. They don't want my taste imposed on their lives. They want a home that feels like it was always going to look this way — like it grew out of who they are, not out of a mood board.

So that's where I start. Not with materials or references, but with questions. How do you actually use this room? What do you keep meaning to fix but never have? When you walk in at the end of a long day, what do you want to feel?

The answers to those questions become the brief. And most importantly — a brief that's rooted in a real person, a real life, a real set of needs, is actually the most creatively interesting thing I can work with.
It rules things out, yes. But it also opens doors I'd never have thought to look for. The constraints become the ideas.

That's when the work gets genuinely exciting. Not "which sofa looks good in this space" but "what does this room need to be for these specific people, and how do I make that feel completely inevitable?"

Every decision — the proportions, the palette, the details — becomes a small answer to that question. Nothing arbitrary. Nothing generic. Nothing that could belong to anyone else.

The rooms I'm most proud of are the ones where they 100% suit the client. Where it looks collected, not decorated. Where the clients say "it finally feels like us" and genuinely mean it.

That's the whole point. And it's the best part of the job.

📍 If you're thinking about doing something exciting with your home in Bristol, Bath or the Cotswolds — I'd love to hear about it. Message me, or find the link in my bio.

When people think about hiring an interior designer, they often imagine that they're paying for help choosing paint colours, furniture and finishes. Whilst those things are certainly part of the process, they're rarely the reason my clients get in touch.

Most of the people I work with already have a good sense of what they like. They know their home isn't working as well as it could, and they often have plenty of ideas saved on Pinterest or Instagram. What they're struggling with is how to bring everything together and make confident decisions that will genuinely improve the way they live.

The reality is that a renovation or redesign involves hundreds of decisions, many of which are interconnected. A change to the layout affects the lighting. The lighting affects the atmosphere. The atmosphere influences how a room feels to spend time in. It can quickly become overwhelming, particularly when you're also juggling work, family life and everything else that demands your attention.

What clients are really investing in is clarity and guidance. They want someone who can see the bigger picture, help them avoid costly mistakes and create a cohesive plan that reflects both their home and the way they want to live.

Of course, the finished result matters, but what I hear most often is how much easier the process felt having someone they trusted to guide them through it. Knowing that the decisions were considered, that the details had been thought through and that the end result would be a home that not only looked beautiful but worked beautifully too.

Because good interior design isn't simply about creating attractive rooms. It's about creating a home that supports your family, makes everyday life easier and feels like somewhere you genuinely love spending time.

If you're planning a renovation or your home no longer feels quite right, I'd love to help.

One of the biggest misconceptions about interior design is that it's simply choosing beautiful things.

In reality, the most important design decisions are often the ones you barely notice.

The way a room flows.

How the lighting changes throughout the day.

Whether furniture is scaled correctly.

How family life moves through the space.

When these things are considered properly, a home feels effortless.

And that feeling is what most people are actually looking for.

You've probably heard people talk about defining an "ideal client"...

And while demographics matter to a point, what I've realised is that the people I love working with share something much deeper: values.

They want homes with warmth, personality and purpose.

They care about how their home supports daily life—not just how it photographs.

They value quality over quick fixes, thoughtful choices over trends, and spaces that feel genuinely welcoming to family and friends.

Most of all, they understand that good interior design isn't simply about creating a beautiful room.

It's about creating a home that feels calmer, works better, and makes everyday life easier.

A home where mornings run more smoothly.

Where family and friends naturally gather.

Where spaces feel comfortable, functional and unmistakably yours.

Because when a home is thoughtfully designed around the people living in it, it can have a remarkable impact on how you feel and live every day.

And they want a designer they can genuinely trust to guide them through that process.

If that sounds like you, I can't wait to hear from you

When people hear “luxury interiors,” they often picture formality or homes that are too precious to actually live in.

But for me Luxury is 'Beautiful practicality'
It’s a home that works perfectly for busy family life while still feeling elevated, warm and thoughtful.

A Luxury home should never feel like hard work.

What feels luxurious to you at home?

One of the things clients often say to me is:
“I can’t explain it… our house just doesn’t feel right.”

And that makes complete sense.

Our homes affect how we think, feel, rest, connect and function every single day.

Sometimes small design decisions are quietly creating friction, stress or overwhelm.

A well-designed home should support you—not drain you.

Sometimes it’s not about needing more—it’s about making your home work better for the way you live.

If this feels familiar, I’d love to help you uncover what isn’t working.
