Project 2 Environmental Moderator — STUDIO 2

Brief:
-To design an internal/ covered space which passively moderates a singular environmental stimulus;
-Be clear and single- minded in your pursuit of its moderation;
-Site: In the Dings area (Bristol).

Requirements:
-Size must be no greater than 15sqm;
-Must provide an experience for 3 people.

Considerations:
-Look almost exclusively at the issues of environmental moderation;

-What condition your pavilion ‘registers’;

-How you manipulate that registration through your choice of program, materials and construction;

-A successful design enables the users to fully tune in to the chosen environment through your manipulation of it;

-External features like ramps or landscaping are not counted in the 15sqm.

Deliverables:
-Parti Diagrams;
-Series of sketch prototype models;
-Concept design hand sketches;
-Final presentation model(s) 1:50;
-Tiny model 1:500;
-Two contextual 3D images;
-Two internal 3D images;
-Moderator precedent technical drawing.

-Tech Task 5: Embodied Carbon and Materiality
-Tech Task 6: Passivhaus Envolope
-Tech Task 7: Construction Detailing
-Tech Task 8: Personal Reflection

•Brief:
-Completion of weekly technical tasks that enhance learning on technical aspects of design of the built environment;
-Dwelling Project (Project 4) must reflect incorporation/ acknowledgement of these technical tasks: Design must show signs of influence from these tasks.
-Compilation of all tasks in a well presented, organised logbook.
