A hazel coppiced in a clients garden, and some of the wood used to create a 'warp and weft' woven border; the rest of the logs, poles and rods I'll be using to make a garden bench, and any remainder will be sawn up for firewood. The hazel will grow back and in a few years it can be harvested this way again and again, providing valuable wood as well as benefitting wildlife 👍

A new fence for a long standing client in Long Ashton; 40m of 6' panels, so not much wriggle room when it came to the post holes - which of course lined up beautifully with some of the ancient footings of a previous fence! A challenging job in this winter's rain, but the spring finally emerged for the final week 😎 Can't wait to fit some training wires for the existing climbers - and not to forget, a few hedgehog holes in the gravel boards 🦔

Revisited this natural wildlife pond created earlier in the year, to give it an autumn clearance - great to see it getting nicely established!
Always leave any algae, leaves etc. by the edge of the pond, long enough for any wildlife caught up in it to return, before disposing of on the compost heap 👌

This small pond had become choked with duckweed and yellow flag iris, and was full of mud and leaves. It was also being overshadowed by a bay tree.

Bay coppiced, and logs retained for logpile. Pond cleared of all vegetation and mud, wildlife rescued. New natural pond created within the original concrete pond, planted up with native pond plants!

This natural wildlife pond was created earlier this year; the access was too difficult to get a digger in, so I rolled up my sleeves and reached for the mattock - only to find the topsoil sat immediately on top of rock (those stones in the pond are all from the excavation)! So swapped the mattock for the pick, and only managed to do my back in once 😅 very happy with the result though, and so was the client ☺

This garden was also renovated in 2024; existing shrubs given a hard renovation prune, paper birch crown raised. Gravel removed, linear channel drain fitted and area paved with reclaimed victorian clay pavers. Retaining wall constructed in brick shed, boundary wall repaired. New gable ends fitted to brick shed, roof extended. New trellis fitted to boundary wall. Lawn re-turfed, borders planted up with nectar-rich herbaceous perennials, wildflowers and herbs!

This garden was renovated in 2024; a challenging job due to no direct access, as everything including plants, paving, sleepers, and excavated spoil had to come out, through the newly renovated terraced house - with the reverse route for all the new materials and plants! But a rewarding job nonetheless, not least thanks to fantastic clients ☺️

Wall extended and repointed, trellis replaced, training wire fitted to back wall. Stepping stone and gravel path, and patio laid, with reclaimed edging units. Shed base constructed, decking replaced, raised bed built, hammock posts installed. Flowering lawn created. Planted up with trees, nectar-rich herbaceous perennials, wildflowers, herbs and ferns!

Catching up on much delayed posting!

This garden was renovated in 2023; wall rebuilt, new gate, new patio using reclaimed slabs and the victorian pavers taken up from the garden. Planted up with new trees, shrubs, nectar-rich herbaceous perennials, and ferns. Climbers for the 'wild wall', foot traffic-tolerant wildflowers in the gravel. And a half barrel container pond!
