It feels as through summer has flown by, and it’s been our busiest yet, taking on several new gardens, in addition to our long term regulars.

The annual trim and reshape for these Yew cones this week. Thankfully the grass surrounding these have finally recovered following the endless summer drought!

Bristol Chardonnay Incoming πŸ₯‚

Nestled in the gorge, overlooking Leigh Woods and the suspension bridge, this beautifully located vineyard has been a rewarding ongoing project of ours.

Unfortunately neglected for several years, the vines were loosing a battle against Buddleia and impenetrably dense brambles. A big clearance, followed by reparation of the support wires was required, with renovation pruning and retraining of the vines the last piece of the puzzle.

It’s great to see the vineyard now under control, and the vines taking shape. Fingers crossed for lots of sun a good grape harvest this year! πŸƒπŸŒž

Starting the New Year with a landscaping project in addition to our winter garden maintenance. As is often the case in and around Bristol, a challenging gradient to work on!

The boundary of this garden previously consisted of an untidy bank, overgrown with brambles, and a metal chain fence which was unsupported and leaning in several places.

We created a level pathway on the bank, in order to construct a new timber fence featuring Laurel planting behind. Providing instant impact, but also once established will form a dense hedge. πŸƒ

The nights may be drawing in and Christmas fast approaching, but there is still a huge amount of work to be doing in the garden throughout November and the winter months.

In addition to planting winter display containers like this one, we’ve been super busy in this garden during recent weeks with cutting back and tidying borders, pruning and reducing shrubs, final cuts, aerating of the lawns and thanks to mature oak trees, clearing the abundance of leaves. πŸ‚

One of our regular maintenance gardens looking neat and tidy in the September sun after a good mowing, border tidy and shrub cutting visit this week.

A real focal point for the garden, this lawn was starting to look slightly worse for wear, with some red thread infestation issues appearing. Following an organic granular fertiliser and couple of liquid seaweed applications, it’s recovering nicely.

We offer comprehensive lawn care services, always using organic products where possible.

Some beautiful new plants from a trip to last month, ready to transform a border in one of our regular maintenance gardens, which has been an ongoing renovation project over the last couple of years.

The border was full of old shrubs originally planted too close together, lacking in colour and structure. Removing these and adding the new planting has transformed the area.

In addition to our garden maintenance services we are able to supply a huge range of plants from bedding for pots and containers to large specimen trees. πŸƒπŸŒž

Due to high demand, an exciting opportunity has become available for a gardener to join our team. We are a small, established and growing business providing garden services to a range of high end large and small private gardens in the Bristol area, in addition to some commercial maintenance and landscaping.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years professional gardening experience, good plant knowledge and experience using garden machinery. However, for the right person, with a passion for horticulture and to learn, a trainee would be considered. πŸƒ

After a busy winter featuring lots of garden renovations, including finishing a huge vineyard renovation, some landscaping and of course ongoing regular maintenance of our larger gardens (plus a camper van conversion side project), it’s great to be back mowing!

With the new addition of this excellent Stihl cordless brush cutter, we are now able to operate using zero petrol powered tools. As well as being more eco friendly, the cordless electric tools are considerably quieter than the petrol equivalent, avoiding noise disturbance for clients who may be working from home.

We hope all clients, followers and friends are enjoying the arrival of Spring, and looking forward to warmer months in the garden ahead. πŸƒπŸŒž

A before and after of an espalier Fig tree renovation prune carried out back in April.

Although producing a large amount of fruit, the tree was loosing its form, protruding far away from the wall, obstructing the patio with a mass of tangled branches.

Following the clients request we have kept as much of the original tree as possible, whilst retaining the best placed growth create a balanced new shape. New buds are now beginning to appear all over the branches. πŸƒ
