𝗦𝘄𝗶𝗺𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 | 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝘀𝗮𝗶𝗰 & 𝗖𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝘂𝗿𝗯𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁

A substantial swimming pool restoration involving approximately 40 linear metres of waterline mosaic, together with remedial repairs to the pool shell and existing concrete coping stones.

Once the original mosaics were removed, it became clear that considerably more preparation was required than initially anticipated. Sections of the existing background were loose and deteriorated, with failed render, historic damage around the waterline and defects beneath several of the coping stones.

The waterline was mechanically prepared back to a sound cementitious background before defective areas were repaired and reinstated. Several coping stones were also carefully lifted, cleaned and rebedded, with localised repairs carried out to the surrounding render and existing pointing.

Damaged areas of the pool shell immediately below the waterline were repaired and waterproofed using a specialist cementitious system suitable for swimming pools and permanent water contact.

Once the preparation had cured, the new glass mosaic waterline was installed around the full perimeter, maintaining a consistent level and alignment throughout. The mosaics were finished with a high performance epoxy grout specifically suited to immersed environments, before a flexible movement joint was formed between the mosaics and coping stones.

The pool and surrounding areas were then thoroughly cleaned ready for refilling and returning to service.
What initially appeared to be a relatively straightforward mosaic replacement developed into a much more involved restoration once the existing installation was opened up. Getting those underlying repairs right was essential before installing the new finish.

A challenging project, but an incredibly satisfying transformation and fantastic to hear how pleased the customer was with the finished result.

𝗞𝗶𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗻, 𝗣𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗿𝘆 & 𝗛𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝗙𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗿

A continuous porcelain floor installation completed across the kitchen, pantry and hallway, creating a consistent finish through all three areas.

The existing floor contained previously identified asbestos material which had already been safely encapsulated. Rather than disturbing it, the floor was appropriately prepared before the new tiled installation was carried out over the encapsulated surface.

Petra Beige porcelain tiles were carefully set out in a staggered thirds pattern, with particular attention given to maintaining a balanced layout through the different rooms, doorways and changes in floor shape.
Door frames and architraves were undercut where required, with transition details incorporated to accommodate the different areas while maintaining the appearance of one continuous floor.

A multi room installation where careful planning and setting out were essential, resulting in a hard wearing porcelain floor that ties the kitchen, pantry and hallway together beautifully.

𝗣𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗞𝗶𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗙𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗿

A complete kitchen floor transformation, with the failed existing ceramic installation removed and the floor taken back to the timber substrate.

Once stripped out, the timber floor was checked and prepared before cement backer boards were bonded and mechanically fixed to create a strong and stable base for the new installation.

The floor was finished using Fired Star Blue patterned tiles. Careful setting out was essential to keep the repeating pattern running accurately through the kitchen while achieving balanced cuts around the perimeter and doorways. Architraves were undercut where required, allowing the tiles to run neatly underneath for a cleaner finish.

What initially appeared to be a straightforward floor became considerably more involved once the existing installation was removed, but rebuilding the substrate properly meant no compromises were hidden beneath the finished tiles.

A striking patterned floor that completely transformed the kitchen, with the preparation underneath designed to ensure the finished installation performs as well as it looks.

𝗙𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 & 𝗧𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴

A complete fireplace transformation involving extensive preparation and rebuilding before the tiling could begin.

The existing stove was removed and the uneven fireplace structure rebuilt using suitable heat resistant boards, creating flat, square surfaces across the fireback and reveals. The hearth was also completely reconstructed to provide a solid and suitable base for the new porcelain tiles.

Small format porcelain subway tiles were carefully set out and installed in a traditional brick bond inside the fireplace, with particular attention needed to maintain balanced lines despite the uneven original structure.
The hearth was finished using Tutti Frutti terrazzo effect porcelain tiles laid on the diamond.

Considerable thought went into the setting out to achieve a symmetrical layout around the fireplace.
Rather than using conventional trim along the exposed front edge, the porcelain tiles were individually mitred and resin finished to create a clean, continuous tiled edge and a more bespoke finish.

A technically challenging project where the preparation, accurate setting out and detailed cutting made all the difference to the finished result

𝗣𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗞𝗶𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗦𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸

A patterned porcelain kitchen splashback completed in Bromley Heath, using Zanzibar Collection etched porcelain tiles alongside natural oak worktops and metal finishes.

Careful setting out was essential to maintain the repeating pattern across the main kitchen run, cooker area and window section, while achieving balanced cuts around the numerous sockets and changes in height.

The existing walls were prepared and primed before installation, with particular care required when cutting the high gloss porcelain around sockets and more intricate areas. Metal trims were used around the window section to create a neat, coordinated finish.
A relatively small area of tiling, but one where pattern continuity, accurate cutting and careful setting out made all the difference to the finished result.

𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗲𝗿𝗯𝗼𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗛𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝗙𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗿

A classic black and white chequerboard hallway floor, carefully designed around the proportions and challenging shape of the existing space.

Considerable time went into the setting out to keep the pattern visually balanced through changes in width, doorways and around the staircase. The bespoke black border was individually cut from the same porcelain tiles, allowing its proportions to be tailored specifically to the room.

Additional preparation was carried out where required across the different substrates, including localised levelling and backer board, with a virtually invisible movement threshold incorporated where the substrates changed.

A deceptively involved floor where careful preparation, bespoke setting out and attention to detail made all the difference to the finished result.

𝗗𝗣𝗠 & 𝗠𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝗙𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗿 𝗧𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴

A challenging modular porcelain floor installation where moisture management and careful preparation were essential before tiling could begin.

Moisture testing of the existing screed identified relative humidity levels that were too high to safely install the porcelain tiles. With external ground levels considerably higher than the internal floor and evidence of moisture entering through the surrounding structure, simply tiling over the existing substrate wasn’t an option.

The floor was mechanically prepared before a liquid DPM was installed to create a new moisture barrier, followed by specialist priming and a moisture tolerant levelling system to provide a sound, flat surface ready for tiling.

The four size modular porcelain pattern then required careful setting out through a particularly irregular room, including intricate cutting around the curved staircase and balustrade.

A relatively small floor, but one where the preparation and technical detailing beneath the finished tiles were every bit as important as the tiling itself.

𝗟𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗲 𝗙𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗿 𝗧𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴

Over 60m² of tiling across six rooms, installed over underfloor heating. A large scale project requiring careful preparation, setting out and numerous technical cuts to maintain a consistent finish throughout.

The continuous tiled floor creates a seamless flow between the different rooms, bringing cohesion to the entire downstairs space.
