The EV market in the UK is set to grow significantly, however, there are still major hurdles that need to be overcome to hit government targets.

❗️ The UK is set to be 25,100 EV installers short by 2030

According to LinkedIn’s latest Global Green Skills report, the UK and Sweden have the highest number of workers with electric vehicle skills.

Employers are looking for people with green skills

🟢 Just 1 in 8 workers have one or more green skills
🟢 The number of auto workers with EV skills has risen by 60%
🟢 Skills in solar system design have grown by 82%

Currently, 22.9% of your electricity bill is attributed to a tax called the environmental and social obligation charge.

This was put in place to account for the electricity produced from fossil fuels.

However, as we move away from non-renewable energy sources cutting this tax and moving it onto gas makes sense.

Removing these levies seems like something that has to happen soon.

Removing social and environmental levies from electricity bills could save consumers up to £300 a year and incentivise the uptake of heat pumps, a new independent report by Cornwall Insight and the MCS Foundation has said.
