As the dust (snow?) settles a bit and the exhaustion recedes, I’m starting to look back on an extraordinary six months. This little start-up launched on the 5th June but over the past four weeks we made and sent out over 200 orders including about 160 handmade wreaths, vintage containers and potted plants. We even managed to fit in a courtyard pot revamp and a couple of markets! One of our wreaths became an Etsy bestseller which led to us closing the shop twice in two weeks to try and stay on top of things and remain on schedule. It felt like the world around us had literally submerged online and that the entire country was getting behind small, independent businesses like ours. It was online baptism by fire and the most unbelievable experience, one I will never forget.
🪴
The business is a simple one - basically pairing my love of perennials and old pots together (like this Cyclamen and vintage 6” terracotta pot) and keeping the English garden tradition of potted plants flourishing. We do have other strings to our bows like our meadow window boxes and seasonal wreaths, but the business is essentially a very simple one which I hope to grow with all kinds of imaginative ideas and collaborations in the coming months.
🪴
Going forward, despite everything, I feel optimistic for the new year. I’m incredibly fortunate to be doing something that I love so it never feels like work and the response has been so encouraging.
🪴
None of this would have happened without the support I’ve received from here and from . It’s been one helleva roller coaster of a year, but it did bring me this opportunity, for which I am so grateful. Thank you x

Susie Dent’s word of the day is ‘Merryneum’ - that “blurring of time during the Christmas holidays” - and long may it continue! Beautifully sunny but cold day, so out in the garden tidying up, stacking pots and doing some impatient bulb bud gazing 🌱

A very lazy day, as Boxing Days should be, reading all my pressies (’s and James Rebanks) and a very quick sortie outside before it gets dark. Didn’t warrant getting out of my pjs however....This is Helleborus ‘Anna’s Red’ and assorted pots of Tête-à-tête and snowdrops at the front door and my clipped buxus called Ricardo in his very handsome Italian terracotta pot (which never quite managed to get sold this year 😉).

Wishing you all a warm and safe Christmas wherever you are. Special thoughts for those on their own. ###

It’s hard to countenance the chaos swirling around us at the moment , so focusing on the days ahead seems about right. And a sneaky slice of divine panettone with my early morning coffee 🤩

We started out our shopping day in Tier 3 and ended it in Tier 4 - which is full lockdown. It felt quite emotional knowing that in just a few short hours most of these shops would be closed again, the lights literally switched off and the streets empty. I’m left feeling very heavy hearted by it all and devastating for the economy, for business and for London.
I had intended on closing my online shops today but am now going to be leave them open until Monday evening in case you weren’t able to finish your shopping (like me). I’m not too sure on the fresh flower situation as our wholesalers may not be open but will have a better idea on Monday morning.

It’s a wrap! The very last wreath to go out of the season and it’s a ‘South’ which celebrates all things Southern Hemisphere, ordered by a South African living in Hong Kong for her aunt in Portsmouth . God bless the Internet and all who sails in her!
Wreath Season 202 is now officially closed! Thank you everybody who supported me - it’s been an incredible experience and I’m feeling very positive about 2021 as a result. 🙏
Right, now for our very wreathless door 🚪

Sweet little pots of Hellebores ‘Christmas Carol’ - the Lenten Rose - in our vintage terracotta 3”. Perfect little stocking filler.
Finally getting to our wreath today, some mince pies, lots of admin and seeing who else is doing deliveries on Monday like us so I can start my Christmas shopping 🧑‍🎄
