Planted out this large Hexagonal flower bed for one of my customers this week - with a detailed, drought-conscious planting plan that will fill out to a colourful, lasting display from spring to early winter. See below, additional pictures of one I planted 2 years ago, taller, fuller and full of dramatic colour. Always nice to see how things grow once their roots are in the ground.

As a passionate plantsman with over 40 years of garden knowledge to draw upon, I care for many beautiful gardens in Thorpe St Andrew and surrounds - plus I have a small but brilliant crew of guys who've worked with me for some time- together we can tackle a full range of garden requirements, from the horticultural to the structural. We can do the 'muscle' when needed but the subtle art of gardening is a huge part of what I do. I bring permaculture + wholistic methods into the gardens I tend , always aiming to avoid chemicals or blitzing things unneccessarily - I've spent a lot of time adapting clients gardens to the drier, hotter summers and building gardens that thrive as the climate seems to be changing. Another nice garden shed supplied + fitted this week, after trying a few suppliers in recent years we've found the sweet spot between quality and affordability ( forgive the missing bit of trim- photo taken just before completion ) These sheds are guaranteed for 10 years but will last 25+ years if given a treatment from time to time. Customer preferred to keep existing base, so this one was stood on plastic wedges to level it and keep groundwater away from the timber.

Hi All- Happy new year for 2026. In spite of the cold and snow we are out tackling a lot of hedges that are dormant, and free of nesting birds until the early spring. Also clearing gardens of rubbish and pressure washing patios, decks and gardens. In the spirit of keeping my brilliant guys busy through the cold months, I'm offering a 30% reduction in our normal rates - so grab yourself a bargain from a hardworking, friendly and experienced team.

Since 2015 I've been a qualified electrician, but never joined the NICEIC because of some unexpected work opportunities in my old profession which kind of carried me through the next decade without needing to trade as a sparky - last year I decided to revisit my electrical training and updated my qualifications to the latest "18th edition" of the wiring regulations. I'm hoping to complete my membership of NICEIC next year, allowing me to trade fully as an electrician- but in the meantime I am permitted to undertake "non-notifiable" works such as adding sockets, repairs, Installing lighting etc. As I'm aware of how booked up electricians are, I thought I'd offer my services to those struggling to get one to their home. I carry out high quality, safe and conscientious work based on compliance with BS7671 18th edition wiring regulations, and have dedicated insurance for this side of my work.

For anyone with an open 'building control' project, I am also allowed to do more extensive works like new circuitry, provided this is notified to building control before I start work - and then I'm allowed to sign off my work and provide paperwork. Let me know if I can be of service- I love working outside in the warmer months but having a means of winter income is very welcome, and the two facets of my business will hopefully provide a nice balance to eachother !

What do professional gardeners do in in cold, rainy November weather ? Well, finally we can cut hedges, fruit ( + non-fruit ) trees are coming into dormancy for winter pruning, lots of leaf clearing still, final mowing to put lawns to bed- huge end-of-year clean- ups of dead wood + rubbish, putting things straight so you can hit the ground running in spring... but also we attend to repairs, timberwork, new and replacement sheds, hanging gates, fences, building raised beds, planting shrubs and trees, mulching flower beds, manuring vegetable plots, shot-blasting + re-coating metal gates, railings etc to prolong their life, clearing gutters + moss from roof tiles...the list goes on. We pride ourselves in tackling a broad range of garden + home maintenance skills, with enthusiasm, experience and always to a high standard. And we can take away enormous quantities of waste on our 3.5 tonne trailers, for licensed recycling into farm soil improver. We're braving the elements to make sure everything in our customers gardens is hunky-dory, so do get in touch if we can be of service!

So, due to an admin glitch ( that'll be my fault! ) our usual advert in the wonderful Village Book didn't go ahead for the current edition - so I'm putting it out there that despite being as busy as ever, we have the odd free slot for whatever autumn brings - if you need end-of-season clean ups, hedges trimmed, leaves raked, final mowing of lawns ( just about ) bulbs planted, and your garden generally made ready for the winter months- give us a call- our team will make short work of it and additionally we can take away all rubbish including green and non- green waste like old sheds, timbers, garden junk, rubble etc. We look forward to serving you :-)
