🔴 Why We Apply Red Oxide Primer Inside Every Gutter in Clovelly 🎨

As part of our restoration work throughout Clovelly, we’re applying a coat of red oxide primer to the inside of all metal gutters before finishing.

Red oxide primer is a proven anti-corrosion coating that helps protect metal surfaces from rust by creating a barrier against moisture and oxygen the two main causes of corrosion. This extra layer of protection helps extend the lifespan of the guttering, reduces future maintenance requirements, and improves the durability of the overall paint system.

When used on metal guttering, particularly in exposed coastal environments like Clovelly, it provides an additional defence against the elements and helps preserve the integrity of the metal for years to come.

We’re now halfway through the village and have carried out this treatment on every gutter completed so far, ensuring a consistent, long-lasting finish across the project.

With England kicking off later today, I thought I’d share this photo from 2018.

While my wife Laura was out for the day, I decided to put my painting and decorating skills to use and paint a giant England flag on the front of our house.

Let’s just say it was quite a surprise when she got home!

Like the rest of the country, we were caught up in the excitement of England’s incredible World Cup run that summer. There was a real feeling that football might finally be coming home.

Sadly, it wasn’t to be. England were beaten 2–1 by Croatia in the semi-final after extra time.

Let’s hope England gets some revenge against Croatia tonight.

A few weeks ago, we had the pleasure of welcoming Paint Warrior and Matt from Coleman Brothers to Clovelly.

Matt and his team are the exclusive UK distributors of Arroworthy products, a fantastic range that we regularly use within our painting and decorating projects.

Paint Warrior, with over 6 million followers across social media platforms, is widely regarded as one of the biggest influencers in the painting and decorating industry.

Not only is he famous for his decorating content, but he has also launched his own products, including brushes, caulk, wood filler and much more to come.

It was a privilege to spend a couple of days with them, showing them around Clovelly alongside Mr. Rous and giving them an insight into the scale of the project we’re undertaking.

This year alone, our team is decorating over 20 exterior properties throughout the village, making it one of the most significant projects we’ve been involved with.

Having someone of Paint Warrior taking a close look at our work, discuss industry developments, and sharing ideas was a fantastic experience for both myself and the team.

We were also lucky enough to receive some of his latest products and goodies, which was greatly appreciated.

A special thank you must also go to Mr Rous the owner of Clovelly Estate. He generously spent over three hours walking the entire village with us, sharing the history of Clovelly and helping Paint Warrior understand what makes this unique place so special.

Overall, it was a brilliant few days, and we’re proud to have had the opportunity to showcase both our work and the incredible project taking place here in Clovelly.

Another bedroom completed by the TJ team, this time for the in Hartland.

What a fantastic wallpaper choice from our clients a beautiful design from Swedish manufacturer . It was a pleasure to work with the quality of the paper made for a great finish and an enjoyable installation.

A big thank you to our wonderful clients for trusting us with their home. We’re really pleased with how this room has turned out and look forward to returning for future projects.

Another exterior transformation completed 🎨

The TJ team recently gave Anns Cottage a well deserved refresh. The windows had taken a real battering from the Cornish weather and hadn’t been decorated for many years, so there was plenty of preparation needed to bring them back to life.

Take a look through the photos to see the work that went into it. We thoroughly sanded all surfaces, carried out the necessary filling and putty repairs, and then applied Zinsser B-I-N primer to ensure excellent adhesion and a long-lasting finish.

To complete the project, everything was finished in an satin, perfectly matched to the fascia and uPVC guttering for a clean, modern look.
