Something to think about……….
After 4 days in a field with 100,000 people at near 30 degree heat and no shade, I had a few insights..
:
Being at Download festival in the midlands this past week with Metallica playing two nights with Slipknot, Parkway Drive, Skindred, Hatebreed (and too many others to name) was a pretty mega experience
:
I’ve been to 4 other Download festivals, Leeds and countless other gigs over the years where I’ve been what you’d call ‘off my face’ on Mushrooms, Co***ne, alcohol and weed….
:
This year was the first year where I was sober the entire festival
And it was FANTASTIC!
:
Not only can I remember everything that happened.. I had Zero hangovers, and Zero guilt from any behaviour
:
Returned the very next day to get back into my fitness routine and good nutrition diet. And felt in no way like I’d been pushed back, in fact, I feel what you’d call ‘refreshed’ and raring to go from the whole thing!
:
But the main TWO lessons from the whole trip (apart from bring an umbrella to shade from the blaring sun) was
1 - The greatest moments come when you’re NOT looking at your phone
2 - You NEVER regret NOT drinking
:
Seriously…
:
I crowd surfed through thousands when Parkway drive played
:
Witnessed a firework display the likes Disney would of been proud of after Metallica played
:
Seen my missus bounce to Slipknot with a smile on her face (and she doesn’t really even listen to that kinda music)
:
Experienced ZERO anxiety amongst 100,000 other people in the most packed field on earth for 4 full days
:
So, how do you get to the point where you can enjoy things sober whilst almost everyone else around you is ‘drinking’?
It’s Simple. (but not easy)
:
You DO things DAILY that help improve your self confidence levels.
:
One of which? Is physical exercise. Seriously, with a more in-shape, fit, strong and healthy body, you fear LESS…
meaning you can take on more challenging and testing things without the need for ‘dutch courage’
:
And that’s not easy, don’t confuse ‘simple’ with ‘easy’. Simple can be very HARD.
But If we do HARD things, our life gets easier. If we keep choosing ‘easy’ things?…
:
Our Life just gets harder
