A quick camera inspection confirmed my suspicions.
Good thing to find out this time of year though, so it can be replaced before the Autumn.

Emergency bird rescue this evening. A baby Jackdaw.
Checked over, and released in the garden, where it's parents were watching and came down to welcome it back.
They were making such a racket, I guess they were pleased to have their baby back, like any parent would, regardless of the species.
I love a happy ending.
Ps, it looks like I am holding it tight, I am not, just enough to make sure it is safe and doesn't get free and hurt itself in the house.

Good morning everyone, and I hope you are all looking forward to the Bank Holiday weekend.
Anyway, as you can see in the main photo there is a selection of stove rope, this is used to seal the door or glass on your stove, to stop too much air getting in and burning your fuel too quickly, thus making sure the stove is efficient as possible, and the only air entering is through the designated air vents on the stove.
There are different sizes and textures, most of which I keep on the van.
I would say that rope is the most replaced item on your stove, the next one would be the internal bricks.
Could I draw your attention to the reel of tape on the right hand side,this is used for winding around the end of the rope to stop it unravelling and generally to make it look neat and tidy.
The point is that I have had this reel ever since I started, yes it's a bit grubby at the side, but still looks good when used, I have re roped many stoves, 100s, but it looks the same size now as when I bought it, to me it hasn't gone down at all,I am sure it must have, but I must say it is very good value for money. Mrs Latimer chimney sweeps has got a new washing machine.
She is fine with me washing my floor sheets, doesn't mind at all, to be honest they don't get very dirty.
But, anything at the business end, the cover sheets and other stuff that is prone to getting sooty, she is not letting me within a mile of the new one,unless they have had a good pre soak, so I have gone old school with this tin bath and dolly,works a treat. To be fair I probably broke the old one by putting too much in, it sounded like nothing on earth when it was on the last spin.
