Fairley's Garden Centre was first established in 1901 as a nursery. John and Martha Mc Donald took it over in 1958 growing roses, chrysanthemums, dahlias and vegteables to sell at local markets. Over the years in the early 60's they started to turn it from a wholesale nursery into a Garden Centre and Florist retail outlet. As that side of the business progressed the growing side of the business ch

anged direction. On the death of John in 1986 the sons George and Ian Mc Donald became partners and continued to grow the business and in 1996 adding the Topiary Tree Coffee Shop. The florists closed in 2008 and became a ladies boutique shop called La Vida run by George's daughter Laura.
