Clocks go forward in the next few weeks and spring will soon be fully with us.......love it!!!!😁

So this place was a bit of a jungle before I started. Its a resale property which has been unoccupied for over 18 months. The sellers of the property wanted a tidy up and removal of waste allowing the new owners to put their own stamp on it when they move in.

They now have a relatively blank (and clean) canvas to work from👌

Latest project just about complete. The space has been completely transformed into a bigger, much more accessible area for the new owners and will be much easier to maintain than the previous layout.

Lots of earth, turf and vegetation shifted!😓

New slabbed area laid for easier access, new fence and gate installed, driveway improved with new compacted base and granite chippings whilst the new raised beds constructed from softwood sleepers frame the entire area and give plenty of scope now for adding greenery👌

I can't wait to see it in the spring when it is all planted🌱

Hard graft these past few days putting in the prep work for the new slabs and fencing.

- 2 tonne of earth out ➡️3 tonne of hardcore in⬅️
- 8 meters of laurel hedging & several shrubs removed
- Raised bed areas finished using treated sleepers.

Amazing what space has been reclaimed!😁

Will give the brickwork a proper clean before moving onto the fencing and slab work👌

Anne's patio terrace and step finished✅

Anne had previously only been able to access her patio area by procariously navigating a series of broken slabs which were balanced on the the most unstable of terrain. Add moisture and algae into the equation and it was an accident waiting to happen, essentially making the patio redundant for 6 months of the year.

Anne wanted easier access and a new home for her beloved potted plants.

After removing the unstable soil and replacing with compacted hardcore a concrete slab and step were formed and poured. We attempted to match the slabs but unfortunately they were discontinued years ago.

The new paving slabs which give the area a fresh new look have now been laid and pointed whilst the surrounding area has had a thorough clean.

It's been an absolute pleasure working for Anne, I will miss the regular refreshments and treats!

First stage of Anne's stepped patio completed today.

The existing patio terrace had a step height of around half a metre in places which presented a real challenge for access, the existing slabs which formed a temporary step were balanced precariously on loose soil/rubble. It's fair to say it was a real hazard to the customer, particulary when wet.

Today's job was to remove the existing rubble and loose soil, replace with compacted hardcore before forming and pouring a concrete slab which will act as the base for patio slabs matched with the top terrace (that bit will come next once the concrete has cured properly!)

Moving a tonne of cement and ballast bags by hand up steps and a large hill made it all the more interesting and rewarding!.....that's today's workout done anyway🤣💪

Looking forward to the second part of this job in a few weeks where I will remove the timber formwork and get to work laying the matching slabs😁

Nice little tidy up job today👌
Customer had major problems with weeds taking over her garden and too many shrubs causing overcrowding. The customer wanted something easy to maintain, simple and tidy to look at.
I began by removing a few large shrubs to free up space whilst the remaining ones were trimmed where necessary. All weeds were removed and to finish it off a thick layer of woodchip mulch was added.
That should see the garden through well into spring, any weeds that do manage to return through the layer of mulch will be easy pickings for the customer to manage.
