to share pictures of our Melbourne Place project which is now complete.

The scheme proposes to rationalize the existing internal layouts, on the ground and first floors of the two joined terraced houses, and incorporate a rear Garden Room that offers a suitable link between the two dwellings.

AMA were commissioned to design a terrace of 4 houses on a small site in Chigwell. Initially we obtained planning permission for a new development of 6 apartments with basement parking.

We were then asked to provide an option for housing and managed to achieve a terrace of 4 units. Each town house has 4 bedrooms and are in excess of 2000sqft. Juliet balconies to the rear bedrooms provide views over the park which backs onto the site. The contemporary design has open plan living to the ground floor and is arranged over 3 storeys.

to be able to share photographs or our Oak Lodge which was built on a half-acre plot in London Road Braintree for a private client. Due to planning restrictions the house had to be 1 1/2 storey. The client wanted a blend of contemporary open plan living with traditional construction techniques. The house has 4 bedrooms of which two are on the ground floor, an open plan dining area which was overlooked by a mezzanine gallery which also over looked the kitchen/ breakfast room. The small annex to the front of the property housed the garage, an additional bedroom, kitchen and bathroom. The Build had a traditional pegged oak frame which was designed by the Architect and supplied by a specialist oak frame consultant. AMA has just been recommissioned by to extend the original house.

Bury Farm was an architecturally unique grain store within the curtilage of a Grade II listed building. The grain store has an insitu concrete structure, virtually unique! Our brief was to showcase this structure to its maximum potential and to provide open plan living accommodation. The concrete structure was refurbished and redecorated and forms an integral part of the overall design. The exterior was refurbished and retains its original appearance. The end result is a marriage of a traditional exterior and a contemporary interior. Rainwater harvesting captures water from the huge roof of the barn and stores it underground in tanks for irrigating the garden and serving the WC. A ventilation and heat recovery system has also been employed.
