We love the colours in this watercolour of The Backs showing the river with a punt and a boat, Clare College, the old University Library and King's College, Cambridge Chapel.

You can see the Dome Room at the old Library, which was completed in the mid-1750s as a showpiece for the manuscripts collection. It was removed in the mid-1860s when an extra storey was built over the south range of the Library.

Painting donated in 1922 by J. A. Harwood, Windledsham, Surrey; painted by an artist for his father, circa 1840. MS Add. 6340(4).
