A very effective way of making a simple tile look top class is to lay them in a herringbone pattern, these were a bit challenging as they didn't have straight sides but I think the end result was worth the effort

When repointing a patio with sand and cement always add a really small amount of water to your mix, this helps you pack it in and reduces the cement powder staining the surface but remember not too much or you'll end up with wet cement on the face of your slabs which will need to be cleaned off with a damp sponge before it sets
