Today, work took me past a hall that instantly transported me back to the early 1980s. It was where I took my ballet and tap classes, spending many hours rehearsing and performing in shows.

My late mum lovingly made every costume and dress I wore on stage, which makes these memories even more special. To this day, I still have my old tap shoes, a couple of costumes, a certificate of achievement, and lots of photographs from my ballet days.

One photo in particular is a favourite of mine. If I remember correctly, it was taken on stage at the Sherman Theatre, where I’m standing alongside Dame Edna Everage. I can’t remember why they were there, but I do remember how proud I was when the photo made it into the local newspaper!

I’m often encouraging people to let go of things they no longer need, but moments like this are a reminder that some items are far more than possessions, they’re pieces of our story. That’s why I still keep a memory box filled with treasured photos and mementoes that bring those special moments back to life.

LET’s TALK BEFORE & AFTER:

One of my latest projects involved working with my first male client.
I know you’re out there watching - the analytics don’t lie!

Not only did this project test my compassion, but my fitness levels too…the client lived up six short flights of stairs! 😅

As with every client I work with, there were several key considerations I kept in mind throughout each session:

• Limited space
• Health challenges
• Recent bereavement
• Sentimental attachment to items

One of the rooms that needed reorganising was a multi-purpose space used as the client’s office, storage area, and spare room.

📚 The client is an avid reader with a huge collection of personal and business literature. By clearing out four boxes of books, we created space for the ones that truly mattered.

📦 Several bags and containers were sorted and categorised, with items rehoused to areas of the home that worked better for the client’s daily life.

🛏️ Items belonging to family members were reorganised and moved into a small storage cupboard, helping to free up valuable space in the spare room.

📷 Boxes filled with paperwork, cards, and photographs found new homes in folders, keepsake boxes, and photo storage boxes.

Throughout all four sessions, I made sure to preserve precious memories while remaining mindful of the emotional attachment connected to many of the items staying within the home.

Despite the six flights of stairs and third-floor location, this has been one of my favourite projects to date.

I’m passionate about building my portfolio supporting clients who are navigating bereavement, because I know how valuable empathy, patience, and understanding can be during difficult times, especially through personal experience.

Finished off my chores for today 🙌

✅ Collected the car from
✅ Finished the ironing and laundry
✅ Took the dog for a walk
✅ Hand delivered a birthday card to a friend
✅ Made dinner and collapsed onto the sofa!

I've done a lot today but if you've only managed to get out of bed and put two feet infront of the other then you've achieved something.

Life is not about doing everything at once. Sometimes it's just about taking time for ourselves.

Many of my clients feel overwhelmed at home and a big part of my job is helping them feel calmer and more relaxed in their surroundings.

LET's TALK WORLD ORGANISING DAY:

🌎 Today is World Organising Day.
It doesn't mean you have to organise your whole home or life but even the smallest of tasks count.

My car is in the garage and my office has been taken over by my daughter who's revising for her exams, so today I'm spending time catching up on some work & life admin and chores.

Everyone’s idea of organising looks different, and I’m never here to make anyone feel like they need to have a perfectly organised home.

For me, organising isn’t just about decluttering or tidying cupboards, it’s about maintaining a peaceful, functional home that supports everyday life.

This morning that’s looked like:

✅ Putting the washing on
✅ Freshening up the dog’s bed & sofa
✅ Refilling the dog food bin
✅ Sending client invoices
✅ Life admin and researching new insurance quotes

Sometimes organising is simply doing the small things that make our home feel calmer and easier to live in!

Earlier in the week I shared a few tips on how to manage if you feel overwhelmed.

This post is for those who feel overwhelmed at home and by their surroundings.

When my clients say to me "I just don't know where to start", my answer is always the same, we start off small.

1. Start with one surface
2. Throw away any obvious rubbish items first
3. Put things back where they belong
4. Donate what you don't use or need
5. Remind yourself "I don't have to sort everything right now."
