Another Driveway Rescued — But It Shouldn’t Have Needed It 🤯

We’ve once again been called in to put right a resin driveway that failed far too soon — and unfortunately, it’s a story we’re seeing all too often.

In this case, the issue wasn’t the resin itself. The root cause was inadequate preparation. The original installer failed to build a proper foundation, which led to severe cracking spreading right across the entire surface. No matter how good the top layer looks on day one, without the correct groundwork underneath, failure is inevitable.

Our team carried out a full excavation of the area, removing the failed installation completely. We then rebuilt the driveway properly from the ground up — installing a solid Type 1 hardcore base, followed by an open-grade tarmac sub-base to ensure strength, stability, and permeability. Only once the foundation was right did we complete the finish using Vuba UV-stable resin, delivering a durable, long-lasting surface that will stand the test of time.

This is why choosing the right contractor matters.

Very few companies actually handle the entire process themselves — from excavation through to resin installation. Many outsource the resin stage, which means they can’t fully guarantee the quality or take full responsibility for the finished product.

We were recently called in by a homeowner after their resin driveway had been installed by, unfortunately, the wrong team. Poor preparation work meant the surface didn’t have the solid foundation it needed—leading to sinking areas and unsightly cracks appearing far too soon.

Our team stepped in to put things right. We removed the failed installation, carried out the proper groundwork, and installed a brand-new resin surface the way it should have been done from the start.

The result? A flawless, durable driveway that not only looks stunning but will stand the test of time.
