Thank you for the thank you.

The main wish from this client was for the almost entirely grey home she recently bought to feel more joyful. We are so grateful to know that our work together has helped to make this happen.

Hello, I’m Sarah and if you’re new here, a very warm welcome. Thank you for being here.

I run an interior design studio based on the edge of the beautiful English Lake District, specialising in period homes, from lakeside manor houses to quintessential whitewashed Lakeland cottages.

While many of our interior design projects are local to Cumbria and the North West, we are also lucky enough to work on some wonderful projects further afield. Current projects include a family home on the Lancashire coast, a hunting lodge in the Leicestershire countryside, and a London townhouse.

For the past 18 years, I’ve loved helping many wonderful clients create homes that feel considered, comfortable and entirely personal to them and their family.

I see that my role is to take the weight off your shoulders. From the initial creation of beautiful, practical designs through to all the things you don’t see - the sourcing, budgeting, logistics, co-ordinating and working closely with so many trusted and talented people (special shout out to Hannah here). We can manage the full interior design process from start to finish.

And finally, a few random things you might not know about me (possibly all oddly relevant in their own way):

I’m a farmer’s daughter
I’m a mean reverser of trailers (see above)
I’m slightly obsessed with my seemingly untrainable sausage dog, Twiggy

If you’re planning a full home project or need focused interior design advice, I’d love to hear from you.

The furniture wasn’t the problem.

In fact, the furniture in this Lake District sitting room was already fabulous.

The client wanted to convert the grey decor she’d inherited when buying her Victorian home into something more colourful and ‘joyful’.

We brought the sitting room to life with contrasting textures, combining pattern and plenty of colour within her favourite palette.

The stars of the show being the footstool clad in my fave luxury fabric (with its slight sheen) against the matte tones of the bespoke rug.

The result is now a layered, memorable and ‘joyful’ sitting room

Lake District country house kitchen renovation.

This period Manor House on the shores of lake Windermere was typical for its era in that the kitchen was located at the back and was one of the darkest rooms in the house well away from the priceless view.

This was reversed for modern living allowing the kitchen to be literally front and centre. Working with the family, the architects and the expert kitchen designers , we designed this warm, welcoming and light-infused space, combining natural materials, period detailing and the very best amenities in modern kitchen design.

So…

I was pounding the streets of Pimlico, racing before I caught the train back north after Focus design week.

I was getting nowhere fast researching a particularly tricky window treatment as few these days have direct experience of it and was thinking to myself, if only I could bump into the great Nina Campbell. And I only bloomin did..!!!

Admittedly the odds were somewhat lower as it was her show room (!) but still, it felt like a magical coincidence. Nina gave me a mini masterclass on this type of window treatment and could not have been more generous with time, advice and sources. It really does pay to meet your idols. Thank you Nina, my day (year) thoroughly made💖

What a wonderful surprise to have our Welsh project featured on the front page of September’s edition of Country Homes & Interiors magazine.
Huge thanks to for the feature and to for your great article and of course to the fabulous Barton family for allowing us all into your beautiful home. I’m hoping that ‘living in a pigsty’ will no longer be a term of derision!
